Snakes are good. They keep the rodent population down. I don't fear them or have a problem with bothering me, my livestock, and/or stealing eggs, so I don't kill them on sight.

My brother has that non-rational fear of snakes. He runs and jumps up on furniture like a woman from a mouse. He son does the same thing with spiders. It's the manifestation of their fear of death.

At my other house was a China Berry Tree. Box Elder bugs evidentially thrive on those trees. They are little grey bugs with black wings about the size of a roach. It was a full on box elder infestation. In August they would turn the patio and half the side of the house black sunning themselves. Walk out into the back yard and they would scatter like roaches. I don't like insects that are aware of people enough to run from them, it's like they are guilty of something malicious.

I tried all kinds of chemicals to get rid of them to no avail. Kind of on a lark one spring I went out hunting durning tarantula mating season. That's when the tarantulas migrate looking for mates and wouldn't have adverse reaction to being relocated. Captured a couple I came upon as they were crossing the road and released them next to the space under my lawn shed. They scampered to the safety of the darkness under the shed. I don't know enough to know if I captured a mating pair, but hoped I did.

After that I never saw the tarantulas again, but, in a couple of months the box elder population was very noticeably smaller. And the next August when the box elders love to sun themselves there were none that I could find. It was 3 years the back yard was box elder free. And, I never saw the tarantulas either.

Then one day the next door neighbor told me he saw and killed this Huge tarantula in his back yard. Told him he had killed the reason we had no box elder bugs. He said that he had noticed the bugs gone, but that I was full of it giving the spiders credit, and spiders like that were nothing but a menace. The next summer the box elder infestation was back in force.

After further reading, it looks like the Frisbee ban fine of $1000 only applies to this:
Quote:
The ordinance does have some $1,000 fines written into it. You can't be nude, shoot a gun or swim or surf in hazardous conditions or prohibited areas.
So as long as you are clothed, it's okay to do the above. It's also okay to be nude, shoot a gun, swim or surf in non-hazardous conditions.

Awesome animal, I would never kill something for fun.
We lived a happy life, with great respect for each other.
Why kill for the sake of killing.
Like I said Vas, it is an irrational fear. I have no reason to fear snakes, I have never had a bad incident with one, but I become like Richard said, a screaming little school girl. It sucks, especially for the snake.

Evening Gents!

Well the 911 now has a front and a rear windscreen, what a **** of a job that is, first to get the bloody &^%$$#^%%*&^ trim in and keep it in, then to get those bloody windows seated in properly, it took three goes on the rear bloody
f'kin' thing in properly, and twice for the front window ffffing window, won't be doing that again in a hurry that's for sure!!!!

I think Miss Daisy's front and rear seals look just fine now!!!! No rush to change them out for new ones, the urge to do that little bit of maintenance on her has suddenly left me.

saw the conversations on snakes, I have an aversion to them as well, last year we killed with a spade a large brown, which was sunning itself on the driveway at the farm, it tried to wander off and hide under one of the cars and we just weren't happy with that, it had to go, bloody hell the heart was pumping after that little episode. I hate snakes, remember as a child standing in a pile of leaves playing hide and seek, and having a huge brown slither over my bare feet, aaaaaahhhh, well that was what my head was screaming, but no noise was coming out of course, still feel the scales on my feet, yuk,

My family laughs at me when I happen upon a snake. I can clear great distances in nano seconds and all the while make noises that hurt the dogs ears.

and with those long legs I bet you make a good distance, so no waiting for women and children first I guess? I don't mind spiders at all, can pick up big fluffy tarantulas and other bugs and stuff but snakes, yuk, although we went to one of those wildlife expos once and the boys were with me, and they dared me to handle the python they had there when the guy approached me, so I did, and they nearly sh^t them selves, because I said if I did it they had to, soooo funny

I am trying to decide if I am going to go back to bed or actually find something productive to do at 5:20 am. Bed might be winning
