Maybe I've just been listening to too much acid rock and 60's folk.

Anyway, yeah. There needs to be more women in engineering!
Max, you don't have to meet an engineer.... Find a girl in business school, or art, or some sort of medical... Anything... Just find a nerdy one, they are in all areas....

If all you can talk about is engineering, then trust me you need to broaden your horizons. It has never hurt anyone to be able to have a good conversation about a wide range of topics. I'm a business major with a background in medical, but I have a basic grasp of many more areas, and because of that, I can converse on most topics. People notice that, and they like it.

I am fine with other majors, and I don't only talk about engineering but it just seems that whenever I talk about anything my proper sentence structure, lack of repetetive curse words and lolspeak makes the eyes of the person I am talking to glaze over if they are not an engineer.

I notice that engineers and people who major in a field related to science or engineering have a better chemistry with me. Even computer programmers. I don't have much to talk about with them but I can engage in some short, meaningful conversations with them.

So, all you need to do is find a smoking hot Math (pref. Applied ) or Physics major with blue eyes. Piece of pi.

What I really look for is someone I connect with and have some shared interests to talk about and participate in.

Exactly, I have a lack of knowledge and interest in programming, but at least I can talk about some things, maybe applied programming, and be understood.

Or chem, or bio, or aero, or geology, or...

What popular culture often defines as smoking hot is not to me. I was always a Mary-Anne kind of guy rather than Ginger.

Hot babe: SLAP!

You aren't getting me.... I'm not talking about just being able to discuss that persons chosen career. I mean you need to be versed to talked about religion(not yours, all in general), politics(again all in general), culture, history, economics, travel, hobbies, geography, weather, etc....

See what I mean, pick a broad topic, and learn about it. The more you know, the more people you can talk to.

Your perspective of "smoking hot" is the only one that matters to you.

Ugh. I hate convolutions. Mostly because they end up as an infinte loop for me and I don't know the tricks to get the reverse laplace transform from them. Convolutions never seemed that useful to me. It was like "Oh, this is the laplace of this times the laplace of that so it is the convolution of these functions. Great. So what is the system response in the time domain? Uhh. "

I can do a bit of that but all I get in response is stuff like "Oh, that's nice." Except for the engineers. They understand and we end up going off on all sorts of things. Problem is they are mostly all guys.

I can talk to programmers about other stuff and be understood. The one guy was real interested in the heat transfer in regards to chip cooling. But then he wanted to talk about video games or stuff and my eyes glazed over. Hardware I can handle.

Lots and lots of problems can use Laplace because you do know initial conditions. At least in my fields of interest. So yes, it is limited, but those limits are not always so limiting.

Flieger, man, you should have gone to school with me... Not cal poly but I lived in the honors dorm. I know, the epitome of nerdiness. Instead of happy hour on Fridays, we had "study hour" where you were not allowed to blast loud music, talk in the hallways, etc. Yeah, I was the "rebel" and as a joke (nerdy at that) blasted Milli Vanilli as soon as study hour was over. The idea was to get our studying done before our weekend "partying". You know, playing Pictionary in the common area.

I digress. We were all Mary Ann types. My room mate was a tall blonde leggy blue eyed Math major. Little make up. Beautiful and smart...

Max, you are a young puppy. You have lots of time. Stop even looking. That will save you a lot of time doing the Master Stijn, fist to the nuts maneuver. The right girl will turn up soon.
