You can't expect much when shooting in the middle of a fog bank. But, putting the camera on at least a tripod, you can bump up the ISO so you can hopefully get a decent shutter speed to stop the car. Taking pictures in low light conditions, hand-held, is futile.

I had a monopad but ditched it since I couldn't pan correctly with it. Had to go handheld. The cars were going from side to side but also from top to bottom of the frame and angling the monopod with a fence in the way wasn't working.

Photography can be a lot of fun.

Sometimes fog can be used to your advantage.

Hmm. I actually like that. You can see the trees in the background a lot more and the car is much sharper but it still has the antique look and some fogginess in the background. I thought the fog added to the total atmosphere.

In the end, I like using photography to capture memories of the events as they happened, so I document the fog as it was. But that photoshop does look good. I like both versions for different reasons. I think I like your version better since it is sharper and more vibrant yet it still has the fogginess visible in the background.

OK, now I am turning in.

Caroline and I are going to figure out a day in a couple weeks to go ride in Prefumo Canyon. She is busy like me. She does basketball as well.

RKDinOKC 04-12-2012 12:32 AM

Film and sensors can't completely capture what your eyes actually see. Pulling up what they can't really catch is what I try to do with photoshop. There is also differences in what a monitor and reproduce and what can be printed.

weird compression and graininess on those. might be my computer

RKDinOKC 04-12-2012 12:44 AM

The white car was cropped out of a much larger photo taken in very low dusk light.

The viola turbo was als cropped from a larger photo, and because of the sun reflections the car was originally very very dark. There are limits to how much you can push the data.
