So how much better would this look if shot in RAW and post-processed (other than cropping) ?

100x. It's flat, not sharp enough.

Would someone like me be able to notice? Whenever the Mulholland photographers tweak the photos I always end up thinking the original was better. The images always look processed. I don't like that artificial feeling.

Sharp is hard. It was foggy/misty at Laguna that day, and the cars were in motion. I was using a slowish shutter speed. So that is about the sharpest they got. I actually like the effect when viewed on screen. It seems a little vintage.

Quick and dirty.

I think a touch over saturated on the red.

I like my Limux SZ3 pocket mega zoom. Got it when it first came out, it was the only pocket mega zoom 10 megapixel that the zoom worked while shooting hd video with it. Has Leica 24-380 lens.

interesting.

I am also a photoshop pro...

That looks too artificial for me.

Another general tip in the DSLR world, is to set the white balance to "Cloudy" when shooting jpg and outdoors.

Flieger 04-11-2012 11:20 PM

Looking back, I do see what Dave meant about the original.

I'll see if my camera has that setting.

While that one does look a little bright....

Under the "P" menu.

RKDinOKC 04-11-2012 11:30 PM

There, I spent a few more minutes on that gray hazy shot.

porsche4life 04-11-2012 11:33 PM

That's more the quality of work you usually do. Looks good. :)

Post some of the chops of your car.

Flieger 04-11-2012 11:34 PM

Here is what I was dealing with:
