Stijn we went trhough this 12 hours ago. Regan is already in a relationship and I want to remain friends with too many of the others involved. She also does not appear to be my type from what I am hearing.

Now Max, that is sweet that you take my opinion in high regard because I am female but it is good to get a lot of opinions and take what makes sense to you. Because in the end, you do what you want in your heart. You just seek people to validate what you think in the first place. Besides, if you think my opinion matters more because I am female, that is a flaw in your reasoning. Sometimes I think VERY differently than the rest of my species so take everything (and every thing everybody else says) with a grain of salt.

I think it would be OK to say her shoes are cute. Although, it matters more how you say it. If you say it nonchalantly, she will just take it as a friend thing. Although I have to admit I would probably tease a guy friend of mine if he complimented me on my shoes. Now if you say it flirtatiously, that's a different story. Although I would recommend complimenting her on something else... maybe her hair, clothes, etc. When a guy compliments my shoes, honestly? I think he is more on the gay/metrosexual side or has a foot fetish. Which all the above is not bad, just would investigate further to find out what he is. :) Different when the guy you are with compliments your shoes. Totally different. Then it's flirting. Like when he says he likes heels or boots, etc. Get it? Hard to elaborate. But that's how I think most girls would see it.

The only times I can think of guys complimenting my shoes are my gay friends or REALLY close guy friends (but they more make fun of them), whatever guy I am with, or random guys who only "compliment" my shoes when I am wearing heels or boots and do it in a derogatory sexual way.

Wow, that's complicated. I had never seen these shoes before which was why they caught my eye.

Plus the old saying about engineers looking at shoes holds true. At least I look at other people's shoes! :D

tweezers74 04-22-2012 11:05 AM

It really isn't that complicated. To tell you honestly, most guys don't even pay attention to shoes I don't think unless they are on a scantily clad dressed gal... and even then I think they notice the shoes as hindsight. They notice the girl first. Shoes are really not even an issue unless they are looking at the girl in the first place. Guys... vouch for me...

Oh, and the boot thing. A majority of guys have a gene that find the knee high boot thing attractive. Kind of like the twin, lesbian, threesome gene... Can't explain it but usually the case...

Flieger 04-22-2012 11:10 AM

Well yeah, I notice the girl first but then I notice what she is wearing too.

I wouldn't have talked about it so much here if the other guys hadn't given me heck for mentioning it.

I guess I don't have the boot gene.

That , has nothing to do with any of this.

the fact that you are asking somebody "if it's ok to say she has cute shoes" says more then any of all the excuses you keep making.

And we know you ain't trying to make fun with her shoes, so either you want to go to the Blue Oyster, or you're cruising for a bruising , when you fall off the ladder.

Read up : The Ladder Theory

Cause you're living it.

I think you are reading too much into this Stijn.

Well, actually, i do have a bit of a shoe thing.
but it's mostly in the way that certain types of shoes or boots are an instant turn off.

I absolutely, positively will not give the light of day to any girl that wears these :

And there is no redemption after having seen those.. The only way she ever stands a chance again, is if she ritually burns those up. And even then i will never completely trust her judgement, ever again.

I agree with you there.

It's cause you make me read so much of it Max.

Fair enough. If Jeff hadn't said something, though, then there would have only been one post on it.

tweezers74 04-22-2012 11:27 AM

Don't like the first several. The last ones I can tolerate. I think it depends on the boot. Like I said, either you love them or you don't... I find most guys like boots. Whether cowboy, biker, knee high, over the knee...

Thank God for teenagers! Lawn mowing is much better to watch than do!

Tweezers did the links work?

GH85Carrera 04-22-2012 12:31 PM

Max, only because you are an extrovert engineer and look at other people's shoes instead of your own shoes like a introvert engineer, I will give you a pass on even noticing her shoes at all. Unless a woman is wearing some sort of goofy boots like some of those in the photos above would I notice shoes at all, and that is just to be laughed at. I am not rude enough to laugh out loud at some ugly shoes, but I will think they are funny looking.

Porsche-poor 04-22-2012 12:39 PM

Hang in there Max. It will happen. I had a really small circle of friends in HS. I was dating one girl she broke it off and I ended up marring her best friend. Just be yourself and it will happen.

Rick V 04-22-2012 12:41 PM

Max, the only time you should really be noticing a womans shoes is if they are still on her feet and lodged behind her ears
