Anytime my wife calls from work and says she will be a little late getting home I always answer with Toga Toga Toga!

I had a customer call about a historical set of images. He wanted 5 different years of a square mile of property that has a river run through it. I told him we had all of those years and he placed the order. I started compiling the images and right off the bat I discovered something was wrong with his description. He had told me the wrong county. I called and he checked and discovered I was right. I continued and discovered there was no river for the section of land. I called again and he was one township off, so 6 miles off. I finally got the images finished and he was happy. This customer has a alphabet after his name. He is a professional land engineer, a certified land surveyor and a PhD in environmental study. He should have forgotten more than I have learned.
I guess everyone has a brain fart on occasion.

He still posts over in the 930 section of Pelican. If you send him a PM he will probably respond.

This laptop is the same OS and I have kept up with it and don't have those issues. When will it end? YIKES!!

Sounds like what I had to go through a few months ago. Took longer to install the updates than it did to wipe the hard drive clean back to factory settings. The laptop was bought pre-service pack 2 so it had to install that along with about 200 other updates. After hours of updating I saw that there were about 30 more updates.

I turn off the automatic updates and only install the important ones. I only check for them when the little shut-down icon says there are important ones available. I have not updated in quite a while. I think I have only updated twice since the reset.

Morning folks.

I will be a bachelor this weekend and for a couple of days next week. Mrs. Carrera is going on a business trip to DC. I was talking to an old friend and he mentioned that a mutual friend had just got a divorce after 30 years. I was floored.

He accepted an invite to dinner at my house Sunday night. I think I will grill some steaks and we can drink some beer, burp & fart and tell dirty jokes. It should be fun. He has been a mentor on many projects of mine of the years. He is a real Renaissance man. When I get stumped on a household project I usually call him for advice.

I just don't understand why people do that. You would think they could tell it was not working out earlier - like a couple years. But 30? I guess they stayed together for the benefit of the kids? But that can still lead to tension in the household that is not good for them.

Laguna beach... Nowhere near Sid or Bali. ;)

And Max, about the 30 year marriage thing, you have never been married. If you ever did, Byou would understand. Just like childbirth, you really don't understand until you have done it.

Rick V 07-27-2012 11:48 AM

Well there she is, I was thinking you had wiped your hands of us.

Thirty year marriage huh? I'll let you know about that in another 4 years

Jim Richards 07-27-2012 11:48 AM

LB, that's near my neck of the woods. SmileWavy

I'm well past the 30 year point, and I still like my wife. Maybe even more than we were young and stupid.

Rick V 07-27-2012 11:50 AM

Jim I find it much more fun to be old and stupid, ya can get away with it much easier

tweezers74 07-27-2012 11:58 AM

I am not saying a thirty year marriage isn't possible. I think every body wants that. The perfect love story. But marriage is hard work. Yes, sometimes you see problems before the thirty year mark but you don't give up. You pour every ounce of your being to make it work. And sometimes it takes 5, 8, 10, 12 years to realize it is a sinking ship. You give up too easily and people say you don't take marriage seriously. You give up too late, people ask you why did you stay so long. There isn't a right answer...

Jim Richards 07-27-2012 12:01 PM

True. It's not always easy. It helps if you genuinely like the other person and enjoy being around them. A lot of married couples can't say that.

Rick V 07-27-2012 12:03 PM

I think the biggest key to a long term marriage is realizing that both of you are going to change over time. Some people just drift apart, others drift together, and some just drift.
Beth and I have been together for over 28 years if you count the two years we dated. Neither one is the same person we married. I think she got the better end of that stick. :(

Porsche-poor 07-27-2012 12:16 PM

afternoon all. another fly by at lunch

Rick V 07-27-2012 12:17 PM

Hey David.
I realized this morning in my rushed last few days I forgot to send that compressor to Connor. I'll get it out monday at the latest

tweezers74 07-27-2012 12:19 PM

So true, Rick. I would hate to stay the same. It would mean I wasn't pushing myself. Become better. And I should hope my partner doesn't stay the same. I would want him to be different. To push his limits. Become a different person. But yes, I hope that we change in the same way. BUT never gonna get married again so it doesn't matter. ;)

Rick V 07-27-2012 12:24 PM

Never say never. Beth used to say that, I am her second

5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 x 0 = 15
(5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 + 5 - 5 + 5 )x 0 = 0

;)
