Good morning folks.

Morning Glen

GH85Carrera 09-13-2012 05:53 AM

Morning Rick. Are you used to the new job yet?

Staying away from the deer population I hope.

Porsche-poor 09-13-2012 06:31 AM

Morning all. Should be a fun day. Get to redesign a torch table.

What the heck is a torch table?

I guess in my brain a torch is a open flame. I know some countries call a flashlight a torch. Is this a light table?

Good luck with your redesign.

A 12x20 steel table with a gas axe. Used to cut scrap titanium from 1200lb chunks into 75lb chunks. Very messy.

GH85Carrera 09-13-2012 07:27 AM

Not something you want in your living room then. ;)

Man a 1,200 lb chunk of titanium must be HUGE and very expensive. I guess that table collects every piece of titanium down to the shavings.

I always wanted to have a CNC titanium engine block. Just because no one else has one. Maybe someday when I make my first billion.

In 1985 cosworth had a mostly plastic block motor they raced in the camel gt series. weight was 1/4 of a cast iron block engine the same design. Nothing public about plastic motors has been published in 2 decades. Must have taken some EPA banned chemicals to make the plastic for them. Or maybe way too easier to use aluminum.

Glen see email.

GH85Carrera 09-13-2012 08:17 AM

Thanks David.

so that salb get placed on the table. That is acutally the end cut or scrap from a large plate. they use the gas axe to cut it up into much smaller chuncks to eliminate inclusions and cracks. those are then fed back into the system for re-melt.

Date canceled on me. That was the first night in Frankfurt. Fräulein at the cafe earlier seemed to have liked me or so says my cousin. I have a pic of her. :)

slodave 09-13-2012 12:36 PM

I took pix of every Porsche at the museum, except the new ones. I have a few rare pix as well, ones that most won't get to see. :) right place, right time.

Porsche-poor 09-13-2012 12:43 PM

slodave 09-13-2012 01:08 PM
