Talk about being a geek I was an Alpha Geek. Wasn't just in marching band, was the Drum Major AND got a full music scholarship that didn't require me majoring in music. Went to summer school so I could take more AP classes. Was in all the brainiac clubs/groups, honor society and student council. Met the girl I took to the prom in the honor society. Instead of auto or wood shop I did Electronics and TV repair. Was one of the few students in OKC with access, file space, and terminal time on the school system mainframe. oh, and to cinch it all up, was a teacher's aide so I had access to the AV room and equipment.
Built a pancake bomb out of homemade black powder, pie plates, and duck tape that made the 5th hole at a local golf course 5 foot in diameter and 3 ft deep. It blowed up real good.

Well, broke down and ordered an Arrogant Bastard Hoodie. Going out of town for a few days tomorrow. Hope that helps with things in general, I just don't want to be home right now.
Oh yeah, just did my first real review on my blog.....I know most of you aren't cigar smokers, but it's a pretty big thing. These cigars aren't even available for pre-order yet......check it out please. And if you have a cigar smoking friend for whom you need to get a gift, these are incredible Blog.cigarshhi.com |

Yeah, it's actually the second micro blend by that brand for smoke inn. The fist was the Anarchy, this is the Apocalypse. When the Anarchy came out in 2010, they bought an old car and let people beat the hell out of it with bats and stuff at the release party. Wickedly good smoke, but not one for someone new to cigars. Very heavy and bold.

Hi Mike and everyone else.
Yesterday was my project partner's birthday (the girl I mean). I did the obligatory facebook wall post but I think I got a couple points because I got her an actual card too. It took me a while to find a card that was suitable for the occasion. They were either too romantic or too silly. Anyway, she was happy.

We both went to the Tesla information session and then went to the hangar where the Tesla folks were talking with the SAE members in particular. She headed out after that was over. I stayed and had to take care of important business since I am the suspension subsystem lead. Then I had to work like mad on Solidworks for today. I went into the composites lab at 8 am to supervise some students laying up some carbon fiber, then I went to senior project, then bad in the composites lab, all the while doing solidworks. So from 8:30 to 7:00 of solidworks. But hey, it was enough to convince the team to make changes to their designs in order to accomodate the unconventional suspension. Previously they had been reluctant to change anything but in that case I wouldn't have been able to do anything really different from last year. We are committed to the new design now, though. But anyway, she said I was welcome to come to her party/social event thing tomorrow. I am going to meet with her and the other project member tomorrow early afternoon but I don't think I will make the evening thing. The project just is too important to me.

I think my BMW may not be long for this world. Previously it would use oil at an acceptable rate, but it would foul spark plugs after about a year -- cylinder #3 would be the worst. But a change of plugs would fix it.
Last time I went home I got a bit of misfiring going up the Conejo grade so we changed plug #3 this weekend. When I went home it was misfiring very badly the whole way, however. The odd thing was that it ran fine when I was just going around town on the weekend - going over to the Snake and on the Kanan hill it was fine. The misfiring on the trip back to school was so bad that I was limited to about 1/8 to 1/4 throttle (which gave me 60mph on the flats in 4th gear, and about 35 or 40 on the hills in 2nd or 3rd). It was load dependent. I tried doing an italian tuneup and just revving the snot out of it to try and clear it up but that does not work. I think it is ignition related because the missing cuts in and out very abruptly. Just a slight change in throttle position will make all the difference. So I think the ignition circuit is not sending enough power to the plugs to light the charge when the mixture is denser under load. I changed the rest of the plugs on Tuesday. That seemed good at first but about 5 minutes into the drive the bad mising returned. I then changed the coil from a new silver Bosch (Russia I think) one to the original German, black one. But no change in symptoms. The plug wires all look alright - no arcing at night. I will try distributor cap and rotor maybe this weekend. What concerns me is that I appear to have used 1/2 quart of oil in 160 miles (with the misfiring). In that case, the oil consumption has hit an inflection point and gone through the roof, meaning that it may have fouled the plugs in just the short amount of idling I did in those 5 minutes on campus and at the lights/stopsigns. I have had a lot of fun with the car but I was hoping it would last until next June, when I would be in a better position to buy a car. I kinda have an urge for a 914 (ideally someone's completed project 914-6 conversion).

I might bring it up tomorrow afternoon. I don't know enough about this event just yet. I don't want something too wild.

I must say, though that I have a little voice in the back of my mind that is telling me to go. The other part of me says that now is not the time...
