What sort of condition is she in Joe?

She's a 2001 and in pretty sharp shape for the year. I'm gonna do the valves soon, but the belts were fine. She ran beautifully for the 45 miles back home......from low speed to a short all out on the highway. Gotta love the sound a desmo v twin makes :)

Is a Flu be like a Odd Job UNO?

Porsche-poor 01-14-2013 08:22 PM

Good thread I have an 870 express. I used to work with an engineer that had one and when started to miss he would switch to a single shot. Bird hunting is not home protection. Sides you only get 3 shots while hunting.

the belts need changing every 12,000 miles or three years, whichever comes first. if you do it yourself, pay attention, as the valve keepers like to crack, making adjustment impossible. it'll still run, ask me how i know.

yours looks exactly like mine. i think they only came in red or yellow, stock. mine is also painted black. go get the suspension professionally set at the ducati shop. it'll make a HUGE difference. they will do it with you sitting on it.

there is also a battery cable mod that is worth doing.

starting in 1999, the CR's got the same upgraded components as the full fairing SS, including the aluminum swingarm.

sweet bike. enjoy the hell out of it.

HHI944 01-15-2013 09:17 AM

Nearest Duc shop is 200 miles so I learned to do a lot with the last one. The belts look solid. Ill probably do em inb3-4k when I do valves. Valves service is not as bad as most like to believe and interval is right around the timing belt interval. Gonna install a trickle charger connector, change plugs and oil tonight. The pipes on it are 3/4 cored and sound almost as vicious as the straight through Termis I had on my last. Cant wait to get home and ride!

HHI944 01-15-2013 09:19 AM

Bit yeah, despite hp/torque stats that make jap riders laugh, duc made these surprisingly quick
