G'day Joe/Richard, how are we this evening (or is it morning already)?
|
Technically morning.....
Gotta get the tax extension forms filled out tomorrow, then clean the kitchen, then taking the Duc out to play. |
Tax....Bleh! 3 Months before I need to think about that.
The bike ride would be fun. I haven't been on a road bike for donkeys ages. The last time was on my dads '72 CB125 many moons ago. He still has that old bucket (only owner), and I told him I'll restore it when he's done with it. It'll be a nice little project. How big is that pup of yours now? |
Got home safely from the Targa California. 3 days, 958 miles, 60.7 gallons of gasoline.

The owner also brought along a red DB4 for the first 2 days. He won the People's Choice award. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...psd8c86a8b.jpg A couple Z's. But no 510 guys. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps678530f5.jpg |

(Do you even know what those are, Max?): http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps9d113aff.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps597d7dce.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps098ffed5.jpg How cool. I don't think I've ever seen one on the road, before: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps92d0cade.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...psc9314c7b.jpg |
Ha! curb feelers. :) You must have forgotten my dad loves to tell stories about the 60s.
Never seen a Z1 before in real life. |
I have a soft spot for E9s. I think there were 3 or 4.
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...pse462728c.jpg A total restorod E9 (M motor transplant, Wilwood brakes, HRE wheels, etc). But gorgeous. My favorite BMW color, Inca Orange. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps5f432958.jpg http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps45a60057.jpg We killed a lot of bugs this weekend. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...psd3a9fbc8.jpg Obviously Porsche heavy event. It's organized by a Porsche shop and honestly Porsches are the type of 25-50 year-old cars you can absolutely flog for near 1000 miles and not have anything break. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y18...ps5ed584f5.jpg |
The first evening we had dinner at Estrella Warbird Museum in Paso Robles:

On day 2 we took a trip up to Bruce Canepa's showroom/shop/musuem facility. The stuff inside there is incredible. You would have thought you had died and gone to Heaven, Max.

Great pictures.

Max, the engineer in you would have enjoyed visiting that warbird museum. And you would have absolutely loved wandering through Canepa's shop. Not only the cars on display, but also the restoration shop. Lots of neat and historical race car technology in there. Denny Hulme's '68 McLaren Can-Am championship car. An ex-Jackie Oliver Shadow Can-Am car. George Follmer's '72 Can-Am winning 917-10. All in various states of being dismantled for restoration/service. A bare 962 carbon fiber tub. About 6 959s in for service/upgrades. Neat stuff. Oh, and a Veyron just sitting there.
