My brother has been sitting on his hands and wont have his 78' 924 ready for it. All he needs is tires, alignment and inspection.

Jim Richards 04-16-2013 06:05 AM

Have fun Andy. I'm also not going to make it to Hershey this year. :(

Jferr006 04-16-2013 06:06 AM

I just got mine for Christmas and it needs tons of work so, my deadline is our Stijn mountain trip in July.

Jim Richards 04-16-2013 06:06 AM

Janet, how's the heart surgery going on your 944?

Outback Porsche 04-16-2013 06:07 AM

I've got to go hit the fart sack. I'll catch y'all in my morning. Have a fun day. Hooroo.

Jferr006 04-16-2013 06:07 AM

Lots of researching and parts ordering this week and last. I just got off the phone with huibs to remind him to order more stuff today.

Jim Richards 04-16-2013 06:08 AM

G'night, Jeff.

Is the original engine out of the car, Janet?

Jferr006 04-16-2013 06:11 AM

Most of the accessories are out, there are a few final siezed bolts soaking in WD-40. This car is such a pain, you get one thing off and the next thing is stuck.

The 78' 924 that my brother has was my first porsche. The original owner I got the car from should be hog tied and dragged down the road behind it. He has so much crap hack, spliced, jumped, added and miss guided. He had a GM altenator and starter some how rigged up, wires cut and connections jumped and nothing else worked the way it was suppose to. I got tired of the random no start issue and dug in. When I found all that, I called the previous owner and told him to never work on a porsche again. I put a lot into bring the car back to her glory. I got her 99% of the way. My brother just needs to tune her a little with the warm-up regulator and replace the carpet. A lot of fun to sport around in.

I remember how much of a pain it was working on the 924 (had to drop the oil and oil filter just to remove the starter). A can of PB Blaster can be your best friend. I found it works a lot better and faster than WD-40 with cutting through rust and stuck bolts.

Andy, you are supposed to start on page one and real it all.

Andy911sc 04-16-2013 06:20 AM

Glen, I have read a lot so far and still working through it. I couldn't resist posting though and chatting with you all. It's like working through a novel.

EDITI got the gist though: Rick wakes up around 4:30 am and says his daily morning, everyone else is chiming in and waking up as the fella from Australia is preparing to go to bed. Through out the day people randomly discuss and then we all prepare for bed as Australia wakes up. Viscous Cycle...lol.

GH85Carrera 04-16-2013 06:25 AM

Welp, it looks like the 911 is going to get a engine drop. I have several little oil leaks that for some reason keep getting bigger. The main thing is the transmission has developed a bit of a whine when crusing in 5th at 70. Likely the pinion bearings. So "while I am in there" a new clutch, replace the fuel lines on the engine. Might as well replace the 1st, 2nd & 3rd gear syncros. Golly it will be fun.

The scary part is it all has to be DONE and sorted in two months. I drive to Michigan in June. Hey Rick ya got a long weekend?

RKDinOKC 04-16-2013 06:35 AM

Heard the weird sounding wind noise, but nothing moved here.

Porsche-poor 04-16-2013 06:39 AM
