My second car was a Mopar Muscle Car....

http://www.zipbang.com/Cars/71Satellite.jpg

A 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus.

It had a 383 with double duce carbs and the slap stick auto transmission. Even with the stock width tires floor it in Drive from a stop sign it had so much torque it would break the passenger side motor mount, even after I put the biggest made and chained it down. Had to shorten the extender on the radiator fan to keep it from cutting into the radiator when the mount broke. I really wanted to put wider tires on it, 70's on the front and 50's on the back. My dad wouldn't let me, can't imagine what kind of damage that would have done? Dig those crazy wire wheel looking hub caps. What a sleeper,

The local garage I took it to was owned by two brothers who's last name was Sebring, it was called Sebring Auto. They liked to drag race and offered to trade me for a car they were working on. The car was a little sports car was all black and freshly built up and painted. The interior was all metal, no upholstery, and no radio or a/c. I thought it was some kind of kit car and refused the trade. I later found out the car they offered to trade me was an actual Ford GT40 they had restored. Can't imagine what my insurance would have been like 18 years old with a GT40 even back in 1978.

Oh yeah, Mertnin all.

My first car was a 36 HP VW bug. 0 to 60 was about 60 seconds. Top speed was 70 with a tail wind. 60 with a headwind. It never broke, I just drove the heck out of it.

Back when I had the Satellite all my friends had muscle cars that looked a lot more the part. A Olds 442 F85 that was yellow with black racing stripes and a big ol wing on the back. A 69 1/2 Z28 balanced and blueprinted. A 70 Challenger R/T with a 340. A Charger 440 Magnum. We were all pretty evenly matched stop light racing except for the guy that had a ratty looking 70 Camaro and a 57 Chevy both with crinkle wall slicks and bicycle front tires. Today they would be called pro street. Never found out what he had in them, he kept the hoods chained and padlocked. He refused to race anyone unless it was at the local quarter mile drag strip for pinks. None of us would take him up on it...he never lost.

Good morning folks. All I really want to do today is work on my 911.

I have a haircut appointment first. I want to drop by the Hooters car show the PCA region is holding. I have to meet an estate auction lady to see about an auction at my parents house, and I have some holes to dig. Then I can play, er I mean work in my garage.

There was one kid at my high school had a 60s Chevy Nova. His dad owner the local engine race shop. That Nova had the widest tires available in the day. He was always wanting to race other kids for pink slips. He never bothered to ask me. ;). He blew up a few engines but daddy just built him a new one.

On the last day of school he left a strip of rubber from the front door of the school all the way on the entrance drive to the street.

Did you figure out your 80's attire?

I had just landed in Denver. Late flight. Found out they upgraded me a Yukon for a rental car. Nice to drive up in the mountains with. Laying in bed trying to get motivated by the thought of riding in beautiful spring conditions with my Madonna-esque outfit. :)

A mate in high school had one of these. His dad gave it to him (fully restored) for his 18th birthday. He was the winner in the penis envy stakes. If he doesn't still have it, I'm betting he wished he did.

I am rethinking my outfit. Probably not the safest with all my necklaces and bracelets. I wish I had more time to go out and buy some neon ski clothes. Next time.

I am still in bed right now in my yoga pants and a white wife beater. I have been yapping with my friend. I was smart and bought a three day pass the last time I was here so each day comes out to be $40. Not too shabby. Ok, getting my booty out bed... No more cuddling with the men of Pelican...

Evening everyone. Must got back from helping the future sister-in-law out of her sorority. Sorry no pics. House was empty except for her roommate.

So I worked on the exhaust and the squeak is still there. I have been reading through old threads and found one that matches my symptom almost to the T. He had 5 broken head studs. I am really hoping that isn't the case for me. Looks like I will have to investigate more, but that will have to wait. Dad and I are going to be working on his project car for a few weeks. Painter is waiting with the front end. We have to get everything put on the motor and wiring ran. 1955 Chevy Bel-Air Deluxe 2 door hard top. Frame off restoration and back to original specs.

Evening Y'all,
Well the kids are gone,
all their stuff is gone,
The house seems bigger then I remembered,
even though we can move around, and things are getting back to where they belong, the house just seems to be darker, it is overcast but it seems to be more then that.
It is almost like the house is depressed, and call me crazy, I have had cars with a soul, and I have a house with one. My house NEEDS kids in it.
Now that I have gotten everything taken care of, the kids are squared away, tonight I think I am going to schedule my breakdown, it has been hard to stave off all afternoon

Morning

Laying back in the fart sack, watching Aussie V8s in Texas.

Rick, what can we do to cheer you up.
Kids suck. When they are around they drive you mad, when they are gone you miss them to pieces... :)
