Outback Porsche 12-05-2013 05:25 AM

Morning Glen.

We had a cool day here too, 28C. It's currently 21C (70F) and its nice to not have the AC running tonight.

Andy911sc 12-05-2013 05:28 AM

Morning.

Glen, yes we will be leaving before the storm. 6am flight friday morning. We will also be getting back around 10:30am on Sunday before the other storm hits, so hopefully there is no delay.

Jaws...haha. That's why I am more of a lets go to my cabin for vacation instead of the beach. You will just see me by the pool, no sharks there.

Back in 1975 when Jaws came out I took a date to see the movie. It was in one of the grand old downtown theaters that is likely long gone. It was in Montgomery Alabama and the movie was working perfectly for me. It was scary and intense so she was hugging me and I was having trouble watching the movie over the distraction of body parts she was pressing against me. When the head came rolling out of the hole in the boat she about crushed my hand. I had no idea a 100 lb chick could be that strong. She made it up to me later ;)

Oh man…drive in movies were GREAT!

Imagine the pain if she would have been holding on somewhere else...hahaha

Morning all 22 out now. I think I might take a space heater to work today.

Every guy knows to protect big jim and the twins at a scary movie if you are watching with a chick. Only at a total chick flick can you relax somewhat.

The only problem I had with drive-in movies, was trying to tell the parents what the movie was about.

GH85Carrera 12-05-2013 08:13 AM

The worst part of the drive in movie was some punk 12 year olds banging on the windows of the steamed up cars. Of course I had a 914 when I was 19 and I had to put the roof on to steam up the windows. And you have to be a contortionist and have a contortionist date.

RKDinOKC 12-05-2013 08:38 AM

Never got bothered and my 1968 Ford Station Wagon had as much room as a living room couch in the front seat.

GH85Carrera 12-05-2013 09:04 AM

I remember picking up a girl in my 914 and her dad looked at that little interior and approved of the car. On a later date I picked her up in my brother's VW camper and the dad was rather uptight and upset.

RKDinOKC 12-05-2013 09:48 AM

My senior year in HS and my freshman yaar in college I had…

1968 Ford Country Squire Station Wagon. Front seat big as a couch.

1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus. Passenger seat back reclined flat.

1964 Ford Wndow Van. Back had no seats, just carpet.

1970 Audi 100 LS. Great for road trips, seat backs reclined.

After 2nd year in college I had…

A 10 speed bike.

Dude, a "date" on a 10 speed has to be a real challenge.

Since 1974 I have only owned three cars. I still have two of them. I don't count my wife's cars.

My brother has even worse that me. He bought his 1971 van in 1972 and his 1952 Bug in 1978 and he still has just those two cars. His wife has gone through many cars in the years but he still drives one or the other VWs.

tweezers74 12-05-2013 11:13 AM

I have never been to a drive in movie.

Outback Porsche 12-05-2013 11:51 AM

I grew up with Drive-ins but they really came to their fore when in HS....

Kevin Bloody Wilson - Rootin' in the back of the Ute.wmv - YouTube

My best mate in senior HS had a Holen ute and we'd all pile in the back (guys and girls) with bean bags and blankets, pull the tonneau cover up and all get in for free.

RKDinOKC 12-05-2013 11:51 AM

There are still some drive-in theaters operating. Most are open from April thru October. The one in Oklahoma City was open till Dec 1 this year.

RKDinOKC 12-05-2013 11:56 AM

The one drive-in that is still open in OKC was the X-rated drive-in when I was in HS. A station wagon full of us went (3 couples) and right after the first movie started, it started raining hard. They kept the movies going and no cars left until the last movie was over. You couldn't actually see much of the movie due to the rain, even with the wipers on, but you also couldn't see in or out of any of the other windows of the car either. And nobody was getting out in the rain to bother anyone else.

You have not missed much.

They all had a little crappy speaker that sounded horrible that you hung on the window. If you wanted popcorn or to pee it was in a building that looked like a leftover from a horror movie.

I have not been to one since I moved to Oklahoma.

HHI944 12-05-2013 01:08 PM

I have a cold......This is not good....can't take a day off at this point with work....

GH85Carrera 12-05-2013 01:57 PM

You have a cold and we have COLD weather. Rick's favorite weather is here.

We decided to be wimps and go home a couple hours early. The idiots and morons have all taken their stupid pills and are trying to mate their cars.

The roads are not that slick. I never spun a tire or slid at all. Of course I have brains and know how to drive a car with no traction control or stability control except the driver. I avoided all the morons and got home and had a beer.

Burp.
