Here's the synopsis of the wiring I'm finding on the bug. Looking uglier and uglier...

My 914 had bad wiring for the heat blower. When the 3rd blower motor died the wire from the blower thru the switch and all the way to the fuse panel melted. Luckily it didn't take anything else with it. Before I tried to run new wiring for that blower I sold it. Six months into new ownership, the new owner, a friend drove it for 2 weeks smelling fuel. Then it caught fire and burned to the ground. Not a particularly good idea to drive a fuel injected car smelling fuel.

After seeing your pics of the wiring looking like a snake nest, I would get a new harness. Just seems like it would be easier than what looks like is going to be a constant re-wire project.

Looks a lot like the wiring I found under the dash on my Rover. However, on the Rover the stock harness looks as if someone hacked it and a new harness would look exactly the same anyway.

Well, It's 4am here and I just found Mom trying to heat a glass of milk in the oven with the oven set on timed bake. She said she was having trouble heating some mile and asked when we were going to go home so she could be in her own kitchen. We've live here for almost 20 years and the new microwave is where the stove's vent hood used to be. Too much change too quickly.

Decided that at this point what's left of Mom's well being is more important than my relationship with my siblings. Planning to put my foot down tomorrow and demand all of Mom's stuff be put back where it was. If they give me any guff going to ask them if I can come over to their house and redecorate with the things I like instead of what they have now.

Sid, yeah, I've been on edge lately....probably just a side effect of the last month or so of BS...
Morning ladies and gents.

It was good Joe, and I have leftovers for lunch tomorrow.

Bugger me Richard, I was telling Sharyn about what's going on and we both think you're a bloody champion. We don't know how you've put up with their capers for this long. Time to go postal me thinks. ;)

Rick V 02-02-2014 04:58 AM

Morning Y'all,
Richard you are a good man and sometimes you need to do bad things to maintain that title. Put your foot down and remind your siblings that you were tought at a young age not to mess with things that don't belong to you a lesson your siblings never took to heart.
Joe, there is only room here for one curmudgeon and I have been (self) elected, ya need to cheer up.

Jim Richards 02-02-2014 05:47 AM

Morning, y'all.

Richard, ask them to butt out or take on complete responsibility for your mother...in their home. Having to be your mother's caretaker is very hard, and your siblings are making it miserable. If they don't like to butt out, they're always welcome to leave.

Rick V 02-02-2014 06:22 AM

I quit.
The washers were out in the Mercedes and yeah I fixed them but I cracked one of the ribs on the cowling. FML

Jim Richards 02-02-2014 06:33 AM

And I thought you were a professional. :p

J/k. Stuff happens :)

Rick V 02-02-2014 06:34 AM

Yeah old age and cold temps didn't help. I am talking about the car not me this time. I am really bummed about it.

GH85Carrera 02-02-2014 07:34 AM

Richard. Time to put yer foot down, or up their rear.

I have 450 miles on the 911 engine so I did a oil and filter change. I cut open the filter and found about what I expected. No major stuff. Now I need to replace the dang back up switch. The back up lights are on anytime the car is running. The switch is in a rather inconvenient place. It looks like I will have to get the car pretty high in the air to get me under there, support the transmission somehow, remove the transmission mount, then swap the switch. Not a ten minute operation.

morning y'all, superbowl day, but while it is not raining, snowing, slushy, 5hitful, going to take marilyn for a little drive, just me and the hubby as the midget won't fit in anymore.

Gots to go warm her up a little, she hasn't been started for about a week. She might be a little cold.

:) seeya after the run.

Richard, go tell them to pack your Mums clothes and take her home, in fact have a suitcase sitting by the door when they come over. When they look shocked tell them to Fick off out of your/Mum's house. Don't let them give you wheeeet!

Rick V 02-02-2014 08:23 AM
