G'day Glen.

I see azzy answered your questions about the CTP part of our rego during the day.

Outback Porsche 01-15-2015 05:17 AM

I got my bits ordered for the tojo today.

Most of the stuff is coming from UAE.

The quote for the solar hot water came in yesterday - not much change from $5k, even after getting some back from Canberra.

Jeez! I got close today thinking I was nearly gunna have to put in a full week at the W place. Things changed about mid morning when my boss came in the office and told me I have to go to the pub for lunch tomorrow...bummer...

Yep she did.

I do like the concept of insurance as part of the registration process. I do prefer that I can pick and choose a private insurance company to fit my needs. I have to show a card from the insurance company that shows I have insurance. The police have their computer system tied into the system so they can verify the insurance is valid. If the owner drops the insurance the insurance company is required to notify the state the insurance is canceled.

Some of the cops now have a system that can run a tag number of every tag it sees. If the car is parked or moving it reads the tag, and alerts the cop if tag is a stolen car, or the insurance is not valid or if the owner has a warrant out for their arrest. I hope they get that tag reading system in every cop car in Oklahoma.

It's all over Oz already.

The systems in the cars here can target multiple cars at once (no good being the last guy in the conga line anymore, they can still get you). The vehicle mounted hair dryers will pick you up in front or behind - no good speeding up after you pass them. Bastard money grabbers.

They also have static cameras over the highway south that will check your rego.

I'm gunna go see if I can get my face slapped. :D

Night all SmileWavy

GH85Carrera 01-15-2015 05:54 AM

Night Jeff. It is a shame you HAVE to go to the pub for work.

Drink one for me!

We have license plate readers here, but they're heavily regulated.... Can't just be used wantonly to find minor violations....at least not on public property....they have been known to gain consent of the manager at stores and sweep parking lots...

GH85Carrera 01-15-2015 08:32 AM

They had a new story of one of them cruising through the city owned Will Rogers International Airport parking lot. Thousands of cars and I am sure a few violations.

So THAT's why that Edmond cop pulled me over the other night. It wasn't because I was speeding, it was because he scanned my tag and there was a warrant out for my same name and birthday in Colorado. He must have been bored, it was 2:am and I was the only car on the road.

GH85Carrera 01-15-2015 09:09 AM

2:00 AM? There is a 2:00 AM? Amazing.

I figured the clock just jumps from about 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM. I just lay down in bed at night and the next thing I know it is morning. Wow, 2:00 AM who knew.

911SauCy 01-15-2015 09:12 AM

Nothing good happens after 2am...unless it's '06-08 and you're me answering one of the half dozen booty callers I somehow managed to manage. UConn was fantastic :)

I have a whole bunch of cop pals. They told me the plate readers are $35-40 to outfit on a cruiser...and have an ROI of less than 2 months!

RKDinOKC 01-15-2015 09:57 AM

Hey I woke up at 2:00 am and was really hungry for a cheeseburger so I got in the Cayenne nd drove over to Whataburger and got me a cheeseburger.

We used to have a 24hr parts supply and even a 24hr Chevy dealer parts and service. Learned all that when I worked the grave yard shift in the machine shop. There was even a bar that opened at 6:00am.

flipper35 01-15-2015 10:09 AM

I will take a late night into the next morning over a go to bed early get up pre-dawn any day. Other than fishing or deer season, then I will tolerate it. I have done many of the "Oh hey, is it really 9:00am already?".

I do remember back in the olden days when I was single I was in the astronomy club. We stayed up many times all night. Most of the members of the club were married, I was one of the few single ones. One of the married guys pointed out that astronomy is the best hobby in the world if you want to cheat on your wife. You just load up a telescope and the gear and come back home at dawn. Just tell her the stars were great and name off a few of the Messier objects and her eyes roll back and she leaves you alone to sleep. He then said the best part is though is we are all out here looking up at the stars. Who has time for a girlfriend? Women just eat into the telescope budget.

flipper35 01-15-2015 11:03 AM

They had telescopes back then?

lane912 01-15-2015 11:28 AM

flipper35 01-15-2015 01:05 PM

You talking about Kurt Busch and his no longer girlfriend?

Glen, it is amazing both how much and how little progress has been made in the smaller telescopes.

HHI944 01-15-2015 04:08 PM

Sooooo......I know a guy that wants to trade a converted HK 94 for the lotus...
