Well, there are two ways to get rid of bad behavior.

One is to have a negative result of the behavior. Example: dog digs hole, you fill hole with water and stick his nose in it until dog thinks it is going to drown. Then fill hole in. Should only happen 3 or 4 times until dog learns no dig.

The other is to train the dog to do the behavior on command, then it tends to not do the behavior unless commanded, Example: dog digs hole. Got out and start digging more holes and give the dog the command to dig and praise when it does. Repeat until dog digs on command. Fill in the holes.

The second method has worked with my dogs for most bad habits.

When the dog makes a mess with something it has chewed up it wasn't supposed to, instead of punishing them I grumble and complain in a voice like I'm angry and disappointed saying stuff like, "Look at the mess you made that I have to clean up." while cleaning up the mess. My first dog was so sensitive to this when I cleaned up a few messes, she would sit, hang her head, and smile real big while I was cleaning up. And the added benefit was she became very sensitive to the tone of my voice so all I had to do was barely raise my voice and she obeyed instantly.

Evening guys...

Went and showed some houses this afternoon despite the rain! They really loved the last one, but wanted to sleep on it. I'll call them in the morning and lock it down!

Showed another one to the couple I was out showing with on friday. This one would be a great house, especially at the price. BUT it needs several walls knocked down to even begin to work, even then the floorplan is still pretty jacked.

Looked at one house that floor plan was jacked. You had to go thru the master bath AND then a closet to get into the garage without going thru the overhead doors. Looked like they flipped the floor plans and put the kitchen where a guest bedroom was, and put the master bedroom where the kitchen and pantry was.

Another house you had to go thru one of the 2 guest bedrooms to get to either the guest bath or the master bedroom. There was also a weird little office off the kitchen only had enough room for the desk and chair. That office had a tiny little room at the other end that was barely big enough to close the door and use the toilet that was in it, no sink.

Neither of those two houses had a washer and dryer or even a place to put them.

What were those people thinking?

Yea, same here 42 degrees and windy.....again. Spent the weekend on an excavator digging up basement drain line, and running trenches for the barn gutter exit tiles to the creek. Cold and windy all weekend....can't get rid of the cough I developed.

We had great weekend weather. Better yet, it is raining today and real honest rain. I hope it keeps it up for a week. Our rain barrel is filling up fast.

Joe, for your sake I hope you are armed on the container ship. For the other people's sake, I hope you are not armed on the container ship. On the other hand, it is big enough you could drive your Lotus around on deck as in impromptu autocross.

Richard, our first dog would not chew anything but chew toys she was given. Our current lab does not chew her own toys but will chew all the kids toys. Our bagel (beagle) chews everything. Both like to dig and we have been putting their poop in the holes and they are getting the hint. The beagle goes to dig more and gives us the big stink eye for putting poop in the hole. We also put chicken wire around the perimeter against the foundation because the lab would refuse to use a dog house and would dig a nest against the house. Now that the beagle is here she takes the better house so he can't have it.

Wow, it is still raining.

Go baby go. Another 24 hours of this would be good.

I have been working so hard I missed my morning and afternoon nap.

I hate missing naps. The days drag on more without that refresher.

Yea, and a rainy day is perfect napping weather. Nice white noise as the drops hit the roof and walls. A metal building lets you know right away if the rain is falling.

It will be interesting to see if the rain barrel is full at home.

Decent enough caliber for the job assuming you aren't trying to sink another container ship with it. Do you get to keep it after your cruise?
