Didn't drive it much, the $$$ will be out to good use and 3 vehicles was getting to be a pain.

HHI944 08-29-2015 03:36 PM

So, how big of a pain in the ass would ripping out the existing wiring in the Series and installing this be?

Friggin lights on that truck are retarded.

Good Evening.

Does the 944 always start and then die or just that once. If just once try disconnecting battery for 10 minutes for the fault to reset. If it starts then dies again, it's a temp sensor or ecu problem.

Congrats on selling the Lotus. Sidney rewired his bug. Series shouldn't be much more complicated and have a lot more room to pull wires.

Half way thru binge watching Weeds, going to pick up some pizza cause the wait for delivery is 2 hours! Holy Cow.

Think I'm gonna block off a weekend and tackle the full wiring along with fresh fluids all around.

Rick V 08-29-2015 05:32 PM

If the harness a just under the hood kind of thing or an entire vehicle?
Most companies have a split harness that breaks at the firewall.
Hiked town the trail into town for dinner, went to the Tavern and they had half a dozen empty tables outside and that number inside and no lines. We were told there would be a fifteen min wait for a table..........................
We went to a different restaurant.

I picked up a custom made harness for the bug for around $300. Dropped it in in about 2 evenings. Tons of resources out there to do it in old bugs. Does someone make a good harness with directions for the series?

HHI944 08-29-2015 06:07 PM

No, good custom aftermarket at reasonable prices. There's some UK stuff that would run me £1000 shipped, but most of the Landy guys agree the ripping it all out and starting over from scratch or a universal kit is a better option as the stock wiring is convoluted and routed poorly.

Not really much necessary wiring under the hood other than to the coil, starter solenoid, water temp sensor and oil pressure.

Stijn!!

Jeff, wouldn't that be hoppy or jumpy, not skippy? I have never heard of a roo to skip.

Evening folks.

Outback Porsche 08-29-2015 08:30 PM

There was a TV show about a kangaroo called Skippy back in the 60/70s. It was the oz version of Flipper. Since then they have all earned the nickname Skippy.

Ok, so tried unhooking the temp sensor. Still no start...

I decided to pull the throttle body off to try and clean and test the TPS. Pulled off the JBoot and a good deal of gas came out. Uhhhh..... Pulled off the throttle body and the intake is full of gas. That can't be good.

Tested the TPS with an ohm meter. It doesn't read a damn thing until you hit about 3/4 throttle.

Excess fuel via the vacuum system and its flooding? Fuel reg or damper?

Skippy's smelling good btw :D

porsche4life 08-29-2015 11:11 PM

That's my thought too. Fark those aren't cheap.

Outback Porsche 08-29-2015 11:11 PM

Could a bad injector do this too?

porsche4life 08-29-2015 11:11 PM

I don't think so. Those usually just start pissing gas all over the head when they fail.

Outback Porsche 08-29-2015 11:16 PM

That happens when the o rings go, but what if a pintel failed?

Outback Porsche 08-29-2015 11:25 PM

Replacing injectors is not a cheap option either. That exercise got rid of about $800 AUD. Made a noticeable increase in power to the wheels though.

slodave 08-29-2015 11:30 PM

Just buy a 911...
