Over the last 4 days at home, I have been replacing all of the drain lines in the basement, and jackhammered out an area, and dug 2' deep into the red clay under the basement for a new sump pit. I've been dog tired, filthy, and at times rather cranky, but easily saved several thousand dollars doing it myself......best part is ? it's finished and all working well.

That's a heckuva project...one I'm glad I don't have to contend with!

For Sid. It's coming your way, buddy. :D

And we he snow in all the wrong places. The passes are full and I need to get the wife to see her dad. Guess I'm putting her on a plane and following in the car if I have to.

They are supposed to get 18+ of snow in the mountains here. I want to go boarding real bad!!!

Porsche-poor 01-05-2016 01:01 PM

I either have to cross a 4000 foot pass or navigate a frozen gorge highway to get to Bend OR from here. NOT COOL!

GH85Carrera 01-05-2016 02:00 PM

Hey, I have a couple of hills I have to go up and down everyday. One is almost 75 feet tall. If it is icy I go the flat route.

GH85Carrera 01-05-2016 02:02 PM

All those storms are coming in across Jim's place on to Sid's place and then to me and I send em along to Rick.

We have a possibility of some s*** on Saturday and the high for Sunday is 32. I am thinking the Sunday autocross is not gonna happen.

When I was into R/C planes the club always had a New Year's Day fly in. Back then it was typically snowy on New Year's. Guy would bring they planes out with skis on 'em and have fun anyway.

I have been out at the track when it is below freezing. It just takes the fun out of it. My new tires are summer only and are NOT supposed to be used near or below freezing. They are not to be even stored in freezing temps. It never gets below 40 in my garage.

Evening Y'all
UPS blows

Had Potenza's on my 944 turbo and tried to drive to work at 10°F. Spun out and hit a curb going slowly around a corner. Rim protectors on tires worked for rims, but had to replace rear wheel bearings on that side.

RKDinOKC 01-05-2016 04:01 PM

Oh boy, my sister that lives in MO is in town. Hope she doesn't expect to come empty my house.

GH85Carrera 01-05-2016 04:12 PM

Lock the door or call the police if she asks for anything you care about.

impactbumper 01-05-2016 06:56 PM

GH85Carrera 01-05-2016 07:30 PM

Yea, go visit Jeff or Azzy.

GH85Carrera 01-06-2016 05:12 AM

Good Hump day morning ya bunch of slackers!

Porsche-poor 01-06-2016 07:17 AM

Morning all. Got up to freezing fog and had to scrape the car. Wouldn't be bad if I didn't live at the top of the hill. Wheeee all the way down.

RKDinOKC 01-06-2016 08:51 AM

Park in the garage, would be a big deal if i had to scrape the car hill or no hill.
Would like for it to get warm enough to give it a bath though. Prolly just run it thru a car warsh.

Had spent summer tires on my 90 928 GT when it snowed one winter. Before I got some winter tires i couldn't get out of my cul-de-sac until opted to go backwards. It would go backwards but not forwards up the slight incline of the cul-de-sac. Once out of the cul-de-sac was able to make it to a tire store and get some snow tires. Then it got around just fine. Come to think of it, I had potenza on it too.

GH85Carrera 01-06-2016 09:11 AM

Back when I first had my El Camino it was a peg leg one wheel drive vehicle. We had an ice storm and I had a hell of a time going up a very slight incline. That was when I said enough! I took it to a local drive train specialist and had them convert it to a limited slip. Wow, what a difference.

I always wondered why all cars were not limited slip until I was driving in the rain. A corner in the rain is NOT the time to accelerate much at all.:eek:

After all the years of driving it I am 100% comfortable hitting the gas a little in a corner in the rain and it is real easy to hang the tail out on the Elky. It would not be a good car to learn to drive in the rain.

flipper35 01-06-2016 09:14 AM

The daily driver has Eagle LS tires on it and below 50* they are significantly less grippy and they are worthless in snow or rain. They are very good on the hot and dry pavement. Next winter I am getting a set of rims and Blizzaks or similar.
