Wow, the page is almost on page two.

Where is everyone?

HHI944 02-12-2016 01:12 PM

Chores around the house all day, about to take go to the pool for a swim then to the cigar bar to relax and act like a degenerate with an audience.

RKDinOKC 02-12-2016 01:14 PM

Found out some interesting stuff at lunch today. Several years ago an officer of the company was fired just 1 month from his retirement. It was all hush hush then. Turns out he was coming up on his retirement and when asked about retirement he said he refused to retire and they only way he would leave is they had to fire him. He was immediately fired. Understand he lost a lot of his retirement benefits because of it. Not very smart for the Treasurer of a family owned and operated company.

The guy they hired in his place immediately changed the company to an S corp and saved millions in taxes.

Also discussed one of the ventures my nephew that left the company is currently involved in. He is heading a company that is selling dehydrating all the water out of the stuff they are pumping down disposal well. Seems the process is nothing new like his company claims it is. They haven't been doing it because just the dehydrating process doubles the cost of gas and oil production AND the disposal of the solid waste is much more toxic and expensive to get rid of with land fills. The stuff people are upset about the oil production wells pumping back into the wells is stuff that came out of them in the first place. They just separate out the chemicals we want and pump the rest back into the well it came out of to help the pressure stay up to keep the well producing at the same rate. The people against fracking don't tell you that. At least that's what I was told.

The disposal wells that are only being used to get rid of waste is a little different. But still 4 times less expensive than disposing of solid waste and has less of actual environmental impact that the solid waste dumps where that stuff is just buried. That's what I've been told by the Hazmat engineer that monitors our waste streams. When we first started having to closer manage our waste streams we mopped everything to clean it up because liquid waste was so much cheaper to get rid of. Then the waste companies started mixing their solid wastes with liquid and charging the same. When that happened we went back to using industrial cat liter and only moping as soon as you got as much up as you could with the oil soak to make the waste stream the least amount of volume as possible.

Can't say the hazmat system is run by anyone that smart though The guy I know that is the professor teaching and training hazmat at the State University married one of those Russian brides, she took all his money, ran up his credit, then left him and went back to Russia.

Thanks Jeff. We arrived here yesterday afternoon. I was completely wiped out by the flight across...we had a family sitting near us in the cabin with two crying, screaming, temper tantrum throwing kids that started their act once we left the U.S. and ended once we arrived at Heathrow. Ruined any chance of sleeping.

We did spend some time wandering about Barcelona after securing our apartment here. If my wife ever crawls out of bed this AM, our adventures here will get started. :D

It's 15C here now, heading to 22C this afternoon. It's close to 15F in DC, heading to 22F this afternoon. This trip was a brilliant idea!

Oh Haha 02-13-2016 03:42 AM

enjoy the vacation Jim.

It's 0 here right now.

I'm off to the garage to finish the timing belt job. It's 55 in there so it will be almost perfect for working.

That's a given, everything in Australia can kill you.

We took the dogs with us to pets mart. They love getting under the shelves and getting pieces of dog food. And the dog biscuit at the counter. :)

Let's see, Sonic drive in, Walgreens, my bank, the corner Convenient Store, and Dunkin Donuts all give treats to Pepper at the drive thru. Sometimes Starbucks gives her a little cup of whipped cream and call it a pupaccino. Burger King sometimes gives her bacon. Long John Silvers sometimes gives here a piece of fish. 'A couple of times Earl's BBQ has give her a togo box of scraps when I pick up at their drive thru.

Can't image why she gets excited to go for a ride.

Have some friends with a print shop I've know for a long time, they've always insisted I bring my dogs. They have always given them treats and last visit they sent her home with a coupe of chew toys and a bag of their homemade treats. They have several cocker spaniels and always have at least one at their shop.

I tinkered in the garage today. The weather is wonderful. Low 60s and full sunshine. I noticed some battery acid on my battery and hosed that down and neutralized it. I went for a short test drive to dry everything out. The road I go down everyday on the way to work is a rural two lane road with no retail businesses. It is mostly trees and a lonely road.

I noticed a 66 Mustang on the side of the road and two people looking under the hood. It was a young couple likely early 20s. The chick was wearing what looked like plastidip pants. Black simi-gloss and just a second skin sorta covering some nice legs and did I mention skin TIGHT.

I turned around and went back to help. The dude said it was a crossover bar for the clutch that had popped off. I have never seen a setup like it but the clutch throw out was not going to happen with it off. He could tug on the engine and pull it to one side and I managed to force the crossover bar back into place. I suspect he was showing off for the chick and stomped the gas.

The Mustang was a long term project with a long way to go. It had flat black body panels and none fit very well. I was just happy to see a young dude interested in an 66 Mustang. She provided some eye candy as a bonus.

i know that clutch piece very well. i think i have done every repair possible to a '66 mustang.
