When I started here the previous IT guy decided it was better to have thin clients and run everything on our "local cloud". When staff that has time sensitive info complained it took 30 seconds for the test to catch up to their typing we got the budget approved to replace them with computers. After all that our CEO thought we should put everything in the not so local cloud. I said no.

everything take twice as long to load while checking for a lic file.

Quark was the first program to check it's license on-line every time you launched it. If your computer didn't have internet access it would check for it's serial number on the local network. If you didn't have network hooked up, it ran fine. If you connected after starting the program and would start checking in the background. If it found the license was not good, or a duplicate existed on the network it would run and do everything but save.

Oh boy. Our Fibre went down at work. The new network manager called cox home support instead of business. Cox Business should be calling us since it is a fibre connection!

Last few versions it is built into the Macs to boot and do OS installs from the NET. Now they are back pedaling by offering instructions to build a clean instal USB stick, and have them available to purchase.

I suspect Win 10 is the same stupid thing. I am running 10 on two computers. I have Win 7 Pro install disk but no way to install win 10 from scratch.

Porsche-poor 03-15-2016 01:28 PM

windows 7 here. every time I open the email program it updates all the public folders across the nation. Like I care what is happening back east.

David, how else can you see how important they are?

If Richard had a Cobra I can see him doing this. It is Bruce Cambern's original but far from stock Cobra. He said the shift from 2nd to 3rd was at 105mph.

off to class three for the day!!!!!

GH85Carrera 03-15-2016 01:51 PM

Airport autocross can be fun. With nothing to hit you can push harder. At our autocross in most places there is decent grass runoff. In some places it is a real bad thing to run off.

flipper35 03-15-2016 01:56 PM

Depends what class III is.

GH85Carrera 03-15-2016 02:00 PM

Well third class is not usually as nice as 2nd class or first class......

flipper35 03-15-2016 02:20 PM

David, if this keeps up you are going to have to change that statement in your sig.

RKDinOKC 03-15-2016 02:25 PM

Kinda understand not providing the OS on CD or DVD, the last 3 computers I bought don't have optical Drives. I like the USB stick though. I had already built one though.

RKDinOKC 03-15-2016 02:34 PM

Most all my cars the shift from 3rd to 4th is 105mph. They have all been 5 speeds too.

I am a BM expert. Every single morning. What is a BIM?

RKDinOKC 03-15-2016 05:03 PM

BIM, Building Information Modeling - the 3D model-based process that equips architecture, engineering, and construction professionals with the insight and tools to more efficiently plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

A way to sell and justify 3D modeling software.
