It is just mind bending what surgeons can do to humans and their hearts. To cut open the chest and change heart valves or bypasses is just really cool. I will try to avoid any of that personally.

The founder of the oil & gas equipment and controls company I work for designed and built the heart lung machine used for the first open heart surgery in Oklahoma City.

I think this is interesting.

Lately on TV I've seen ads for lawyers collecting money for medical injuries and death caused by IVC or Vena Cava blood clot filters. The Greenfield IVC was designed by the founder of Kimray working with Dr. Greenfield. In the 80's he sold the rights to all the medical stuff the company was involved in because he thought the legal liabilities were becoming stupidly expensive. Our company continued to manufacture the IVC filters. One of the tool and die makers made them. Even after the tool and die maker retired he continued making the IVC filters basically until he passed 10 years ago. Looked it up and the lawsuits are only for IVCs made AFTER that guy quit making them.

When we sold the rights to them our company was selling them for $75. Our Tool & Die guy made them for the new company for $25. They repackaged them in a nice satin lined wood box and sold them for $375.

Happy retirement Jim, wow how time flies. When are you moving to Cali?

Jim Richards 04-01-2016 04:14 AM

Thanks Azzy! We're hoping to leave either Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. No rush. :D

GH85Carrera 04-01-2016 05:22 AM

Wake up Jim you are late for work, the big project is overdue! April Fools. ;)

One of my friends in the Porsche club was an Air Force Pilot and flew an AWACS. He had enough built up leave that the last 4 weeks of his Air Force career was done while on leave. He quit shaving the first day of leave. He retired and had a pretty stubbly face. He has not shaved since. He lives in the Florida Keys now. He keeps inviting me down to visit for a week. I really want to go. We will have to go some winter soon.

Good Thursday morning to the other working employees on the thread. Good Saturday morning Jim!

Not late...I'm typing this at my desk right now. Off in a minute to a 9AM meeting. SmileWavy

Good Moning.

Just got back from eye doc. Between getting them dialated and the shot in my right eye...Literally blind in one eye and can't see out of the other. Hope not making too many typos cause can't tell.

Get me some eye surgury in couple of weeks. They are replacing the fluid in my left eye.

flipper35 04-01-2016 08:21 AM

Hopefully not the lifetime fluid the auto companies use in their transmissions.

Speaking of, when does the wagon go for surgery Richard?

Those of you with Facebook, how is Rick doing?

GH85Carrera 04-01-2016 08:36 AM

Rick did a total shave of his head. Other than that, same ol Rick.

I do miss his posts here. Rick, come back! We need your adult supervision. That is how desperate we are!

porsche4life 04-01-2016 08:36 AM

Still grumpy?

flipper35 04-01-2016 08:38 AM

For some reason when I read he shaved his head I had a vision of a tattoo of a raised middle finger under his hair.

RKDinOKC 04-01-2016 08:42 AM

Probably shouldn't have driven home. Everything is real blurry. The shot in my right eye made it every bit as blurry as my left eye. Will be that way until this afternoon. Will probably just do a Tylenol 3 and take a nap.

The Cayenne goes under the wrench Monday morning.

Porsche-poor 04-01-2016 08:45 AM

Just sent Rick a text telling him we miss him.

He says "aim better"

Oh Haha 04-01-2016 09:12 AM

+1

I can see him doing that.

RKDinOKC 04-01-2016 09:33 AM

When working in the machine shop a guy started shaving his head. His nickname quickly became Chemo.
