I served for a while on an older destroyer than that one. Lots of fun in heavy seas. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/pukeface.gif:D:D:D

Good Friday all!

Built LOTs of cars, trucks, boats, planes, tanks, model rockets and RC planes. Have exactly none of them. Not even the ones that came out really well.

Had a Tamiya 1/10 scale R/C Boxster. It was from when you had to build the R/C chassis including the gearbox, shocks, etc. Got it when I had the Boxster. Don't count it on my build list cause I never put it together.

My RC copters were all no assembly required so don't consider them models either. Even though repairing them is as involved as building one.

I have the R/C Tamiya 993 RSR. My best friend gave it to me after I bought the 911. The body is beat but it still runs great.

I recall a pickup I built back in the day. I think it was Rocky's, Jim Rockford's dad.

RKDinOKC 07-15-2016 06:25 AM

You know you can get just the body for those for about $15.00.

The Boxster body had the top up. I bought a 2nd body and was planning to fabricate a top down version.

Oh Haha 07-15-2016 06:27 AM

Cool! I didn't even think about that.

Oh Haha 07-15-2016 06:52 AM

Just my luck. That model was a limited run on a special chassis that is no longer made.

morning all. dropped the wife and one kid at the airport. now off to pretend to work for 8 hours today.

GH85Carrera 07-15-2016 07:22 AM

I haven't built a model since I was a kid. I prefer real cars! ;)

Hurry, last one...911 Martini Body Kit

Porsche-poor 07-15-2016 07:37 AM

I have a sub that's only about 1/3 done at this point.

I have a Strike Eagle I am in the middle of and my daughter is doing a Frogfoot. Had to buy an airbrush so we could paint them properly. :)

Porsche-poor 07-15-2016 08:20 AM

I saw that one Richard. It's cool but won't fit my chassis. This is the one I have. Tamiya America Item #58172 | RC Taisan Starcard Porsche 911 - GT2 TA02SW

I found a body on Ebay that sold for $150.00!!!

Apparently, this car was a rare piece. Guess I shouldn't have driven it...

RKDinOKC 07-15-2016 10:57 AM

You need to do some ebay searching, there are 911 GT2 bodies for the TA-02SW available. Saw 3 different sellers. Search for Tamiya 911 GT2 body. There were also some other 911 body kits that list they fit TA-02SW chassis.

They re-released the RC car last year as a road car, ie white and no martini decals. But is already discontinued. There was one complete car available at a toy shop in england for 139.99 pounds.

I never really got into the cars because the street near my house suck and I would have to go somewhere to play with them.

The reason I got into the small rc copters is I can fly with them without leaving home. Quit messing with them because my eyesight was getting so bad I couldn't fix them. Now that at least my right eye is better I might have to get back into them. Bet everything I have now is out of date and there is much better stuff.

Porsche-poor 07-15-2016 11:20 AM

I tried r/c planes but didn't have the talent to build them.

flipper35 07-15-2016 11:21 AM

They are only out of date if you BUY the new stuff. If they are working fine they should still be fun. Unless they run DOS 3.3 or something.

Look a thte plans on FliteTest or buy a ready to fly trainer. The SAFE stuff works pretty well.

RKDinOKC 07-15-2016 11:56 AM

Our local hobby shop has lots of Ready to Fly, RTF stuff. And the guy there is really really good at helping people. I try to get stuff there instead of over the internets just to help keep him in business because he has helped so much.

Will say that when I was into the planes you pretty much joined a club and flew at their flying field and got lots of help from club members. Today with all the smaller electric stuff it just doesn't seem to be the norm any more.

The new radio and SAFE stuff is changing all the time and is much better the newer it is. My first little indoor copter had one of the first SAFE technology systems and it was better than the next level copter I got that didn't have any, but not very good compared to today's stuff. I likened it to trying to control a wild bumble bee it darted around so much with very little input.

We have one of the micro helis with gyros and one without. One is flyable the other, you guide sort of.
