Only if you get caught

I was looking through the crap in my spam box to make sure no legitimate email got trapped.
Now the spammers think I am old and infirm. I have offers from health institutes, walk in tubs, arthritis options, COPD therapy, alcohol rehab therapy and breast enhancement, wait what? They figure I can't get in the bathtub, I need a health institute for my COPD and arthritis and drinking but I still want big boobs? What happened to the jet rental and yacht rental? |
you were napping while those were offered.

My wife hired a Process Engineer today who owns a 944. As any good car wife should, she asked about it so she could tell me when she got home.
Apparently, the questions she asked were not the same as I would have asked of him. I'm sending her a list of things to ask him tomorrow. He's never heard of Pelican Parts! |
blasphemy
|
What kind of world do you live in with a 944 and not heard of Pelican?
Stuck at work with a failed phone system upgrade. |
Well, he apparently drooled over the pics of the SC she has on her desk. He aspires to own one someday so that's good.

In my 35 years of working at the company I work at there have only been 2 other people that drove Porsches. Both were young kids and drove 944s.
When people first met me at work they think I am overpaid and rich because I drive Porsches. Try to explain how if you shop around you can find them for less than they think and it just goes in one ear and out the other. Did find that when I say "I'm single" they are like "Ohhh okay, no wonder. If I was single I could afford a Porsche too." The truth is I typically spent less on my Porsches than they spent on their pickup trucks. Most of the factory workers with sports cars are American made bigots and drive Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros, etc, there is even a couple of Cobras , a viper, and a Ford GT. There are also several classic restores, muscle cars and street rods. No other foreign cars. When we had our first employee car show (part of the company picnic) my 928 was the only foreign car there. They just don't seem to realize the founder was of German descent and used to delight in 1/4 mile racing the hot rodding machinists and beating them with his 300 SL convertible. One of the 1/4 mile street racing spots in the area was about a mile from the company. At the car show there were also quite a few bikes. At one point on of the Harley guys went of started up and reved it. The crowd applauded. My nephew went over and reved his 4 cylinder crotch rocket and they applauded again. The guy with the Ford GT started up and reved it and crowed applauded even louder. I started up and reved my GTS with newly installed rear muffler bypass and the crowed applauded, cheered, and whistled. A couple of the guys with street and drag rods said they wouldn't rev theirs because they liked the sound of my GTS better. A month after the car show I found out vote wise I had won the people choice award, but they decided to not give it to me since I was "a member of the family." What a rip. They've had the show every year since and I refuse to enter my 928. |
Well that was a real goat rope. Server couldn't connect for the licensing. Never had to before. Jerks.

Morning all. It is Windows update morning. I get to update three laptops and 9 desktops. Are you jealous? My main workstation has a Win 7 Pro but some programs require XP so I have the virtual XP installed on it. I have to update the virtual XP as well and the 7 Pro. Golly this is fun! ;)
Back when I had my 914 it was my only car for over 20 years. I drove it everywhere. At work for a while the boss had a real nice 924 and then a chick that was working there found a beat up 924 and she bought one. So we had 3 Porsches in the parking lot and of course we had the constant remarks of the pay must be great here for three Porsche drivers to work here. The combined value of all three cars was likely less than one new pickup. One day when I drove mu 911 to work here my co-worker drove his nice Kawasaki motorcycle and one of our customers that a friend was commenting that our pilot must be underpaid since he was driving a beat up old pickup. I told him he is single and has a car as well, and he owns two airplanes. He has more toys than us! |
Back in the vending days I rarely mentioned the 911 to the people I dealt with directly. Most were in HR or Purchasing and weren't car folk anyway.
When you try to raise the price of a Snickers by .05 people can turn on you quickly. Did I mention how great it is to have kids? The boy came down last night and told the upstairs toilet "exploded" and there is water all over the floor. WTH?!!!!!! Sure enough, there was an inch of soapy water on the floor. For the love of all that is holy!!!!! Lots of towels and a small heater dried it up but c'mon. His punishment for using bag judgement was to get a buzz cut from Mom. Now I know why my Dad drank and worked "long hours" when we were growing up. |
