Hey Jim, You should extend a few more days and fly out to Alice with us for a few days R&R. Shaz has to go to work on Monday but I can play tour guide.

Good over the hump day.
Welp the Mrs said to order the Macan. We have scoured the option list and have it down to the stuff we really want. Porsche has some crazy options available. We are getting enough bells and whistles to be happy. The park assist with cameras front and rear and the Premium Plus package with Porsche Connect. The connect feature lets us plug in the iPhone and display the phone on the dash. Then Google maps are always updated and the music will play. Of course I listen to music in my 85 011 with bluetooth from my phone so that is not really new. ;) It is just under twice the cost of my first house.:eek: With taxes and tag in may get close to twice the price of the house. |
Way cool Glen!
Beats getting an old lady car!SmileWavy |

The astonishing thing is if you substituted her high school graduation photo for her driver's license anyone would say yep that's you without hesitation. On my wall at work I have a two photos of her. One is from just before we were married, the other is when she retired from her job. I think the retirement photo makes her look younger than the 25 year old photo. I am pretty damn lucky. We are calling this our 25 anniversary present to each other. ;) The anniversary is not until March put ordering a car will take a few months. It took 6 months when I ordered my 914 42 years ago. It sure beats diamonds! :D |
Gradcundulations!
Now if they just made an El Porschamino. I do know a guy in Dallas that has this... http://dreamaticl.com/images/184-porsche-928-4.jpg |
Too bad we're off a bit on our schedules, Jeff. We'll be back to this part of the world again and will definitely drop into Alice Springs when we do. Sorry your retirement training is coming to an end. Safe travels. SmileWavy

Congrats to Mrs. Carrera, Glen, and yes Richard, you NEED that. Everyone in your part of the world needs a pickup. Hell, even I have one!
|
I've always had Station Wagons, Blazers, Vans, and SUVs instead of pickups. If they couldn't haul it, had a trailer.
|
morning all. Off to San Jose again next week. Oh boy now to go tell the wife.
Glen any more info on the Spokane trip? Actually what car will you bring this time? |
Rent a trailer and take both?
|
oh now that's a plan!!!!
|
The Macan only has a towing capacity of 1,600 lbs. The PDK is not for towing.
I don't know which car we will bring. I suspect one reason she wants the Macan is to have more room for trips. Parade in Spokane is July 6th to 16th. I will plan on driving the 911 unless I am overruled. It will be another 5,500 mile round trip I suspect. |
have you made reservations yet?
|
I got it!
Glen drives the 911, the Mrs. drives the Macan and they race ala Cannonball style. There, glad I solved the dilemma for you guys. You are welcome. SmileWavy |
We had a "phishing test" yesterday. 18% thought it was a good idea to click on the link to reset their password. My boss bet me that it will be closer to 28% when it is all said and done. I think we should have stiffer penalties for clicking, even if it was a test. They all will have remedial training.
One good thing, our firewall blocked all of them and I had to let them all through so our firewall is decent. |

Phishing...I make those up and send them to our employees. We always get about 3% clickers.
If you click you have to re-take the email security learning series web casts test. I wanted to use Mimecast. They are a combination anti-spam and security training. They not only block the actual phishing emails, they change the links and pass them on to keep track of users that click on them and sign them up for training. Just got a spam phone call. Kinda made me laugh. Instead of playing the recording to tell me who they were and to dial a number to be put in contact with a person, it just said, Sorry the extension you dialed is not available. So I can block their number before they actual get to spiel me. I have a me.com email account for my Apple stuff. It has been getting calendar spam. It has been accepting calendar invites that are actually spam wanting you to click on their link in the event description. Apple announced today they are going to block it. Brother Bob gets hundreds of spams a day AND complains about it even though he won't use a spam filter because he reads it all and click on things he likes. Says he will miss some good deals because he is the only way those companies have to advertise. He also has problems with virus, ransomware, and getting his credit cards hacked. AND complains about it! He regularly takes his laptop to Geek Squad to get it fixed. He uses Yahoo mail. I would offer to give him a zipbang.com account because he is my brother, but he would ruin my domain by accepting and clicking on spam all the time. |

Bob wasn't going to come visit for Thanksgiving because he only had $0.38 in his bank account. Kept telling me he was all depressed because he didn't have any kids or grandkids that would spend the family holiday with him. Told him I didn't have kids or grandkids and it didn't bother me one bit.
Brother and I got together and anonymously deposited $100 in Bob's bank account. Brother told me to not let his wife find out or she would get pissed. Bob kept sending me emails about how depressed he was getting. Finally told him to check his bank account. Then he send me a text about how some money mysteriously appeared in his bank account so he could come to visit after all. Kept asking me while he was here if I knew where the money came from. All I would tell him was when our now passed brother George was having a tough time he sometimes got $100 cash anonymously mailed to him. And that George nor his wife ever said anything about it. Bob asked if I knew who they were getting it from? Said they never said anything about it. |
