Took a King Air from OKC to Ames Iowa and back. The pilot was in our group and worked for the charter company. The plane wasn't booked so we got to use it for the cost of gas. Still costed us $200 each for 8 of us. We were all glad no-one had to use the in-flight facilities.

The joys of old cars.

The El Camino turned 349,000 miles on the way to work this morning. The speedometer has been bouncing a lot and I just learned to ignore it. Now it is starting to squall at highway speeds. It is either the cable or the speedometer. I replaced the cable back about 150,000 miles ago. I can look it up but it does not matter much. Last time I just went to a parts store and got one from stock. ow they have to order it in and I can pick it up tonight. It is a goofy two part cable and about 80 inches long. The first counter guy was the beginner. He found a cable that was 4 inches long. I am real sure I need about 80 inches. The next one he found was 120 inches. Oh come on. 10 feet of cable!

Finally the manager had to help. I took him outside to show him my car because he was trying to convince me it had a transducer in between the cables. In the end about 30 bucks and I am set. The pain in the butt part is taking the speedometer out and swapping the cable. Weekend project number one.

We got home a few hours ago and hit the fart sack. We almost feel normal again. Now, back to the grind.

Porsche-poor 12-02-2016 02:12 PM

yeah the one Saturday after another.

Oh Haha 12-02-2016 02:31 PM

Glad you guys made it home safely Jim.

Well, our Christmas shopping is all but done. Wifey has to order a couple of things online but that's it.

We aren't getting each other gifts this year.

It's the weekend!

Cable did that on the Audi I had. Until it started making noise it was kind neat. It didn't bounce around, instead it moved up and down in jumps that lined up with the dashes. It still registered the correctly speeds. It made it look like a quartz movement. When it started making noise, I pulled it and pulled the cable out of the sleeve, greazed it up, and re-installed. Stopped the noise and smoothed out the "quartz movement."

Christmas, oh yeah, guess I need to order a case of canned mangos for chip juice.

Maybe I'll use the new smoker and grill all the peppers to make smoked chip juice!

Went to the eye doc this afternoon. My left eye isn't clearing up. The drugs they gave me last month should have cleared it up if it was the blood vessels swelling, but it hasn't. Asked if I was going to have to get a patch and become a pirate. He said no, the retina is not detaching. He did an ultrasound. My eye is not pregnant! Says it is either existing blood vessels leaking of new ones forming. The good thing is the back of my eye is NOT swilling. He is giving it a month to see if it clears up. If it doesn't improve doing a Vitrectomy again. Says will clean the fluid, put some dye in a find where it is bleeding and cauterize it, then replace the fluid again. Acted like it was no big deal, they just try to cure it as best they can before they open the eye because of the risk of infection.

Said to not do any lifting or bending or anything strenuous as it would cause more bleeding instead of it sealing the leaks off.

Welcome home weary travelers.

Outback Porsche 12-02-2016 07:46 PM

Still more weary to come, grandkids are here already (and wouldn't have it any other way) :)

RKDinOKC 12-02-2016 08:19 PM

It's a good tired.

GH85Carrera 12-03-2016 06:46 AM

Morning all.

I guess it is speedometer repair guy duty for me.

Oh Haha 12-03-2016 07:47 AM

Happy Saturday.

My son woke up around 430am and yakked all over the floor. yay

Jim Richards 12-03-2016 09:08 AM

Dang, that blows (beets), Wayne. Happy Saturday, y'all.

RKDinOKC 12-03-2016 09:59 AM

Don't bemember my dogs yaking indoors, probably selective bemembery. They usually eat grass and yak outside. The cats, that's different. The anti-hairball food cuts down on the frequency, but they still do it.

If you ever decide to bomb somewhere in the US, do it at Noon on a Saturday. The sirens are going to go off anyway so nobody will be expecting an air raid.

Been drizzly and cool all day. Kinda like Fall used to be. Haven't been able to stay awake. Great napping weather.

Glen, how's the speedometer cable thing going. Perfect weather to work in the garage.

Nico Rossburg retired?

It's supposed to snow tomorrow. OOooooh. Yeah, it's still going to be close to 40 degrees.

Weldy neighbor still hasn't got back with me on the trampoline so I took it down. The mat was about on it's last breath anyway. I'll order a new one in the spring.

Got the bill from my hospital stay today. :(

Shoulda saved the refund check we got yesterday instead of spending it.
