Hola, y'all.

I am always astonished when I think that the politicians actually thought ahead and had a lot of man made lakes built, and OKC has the water rights to several more lakes. The vast majority of out drinking water is rain run off. We have very highly rated water system. |
The ponds at the family farm are all full.
Just look at the Mississippi river water shed. There is not enough drainage in the delta to keep it from flooding so the Corps of Engineers basically decide what part of the watershed they will hold back the water and flood to keep New Orleans from flooding. Sometimes they goof and cause flooding in one area and drought levels in another no matter what the actual rainfall is. |

The Todd river was flowing through town yesterday, and it'll prolly flow higher in a few hours after that deluge. This'll be fun getting out of town this morning, I'm wondering how full the three rivers south are at the moment. The first river (the Hugh) is about an hour away before we'll know. The last one (the Finke) is almost 2 hours away. It's possible to get stuck for days between the rivers. We should be ok if we get stuck - I packed the Engel last night with a carton of beer, 4 bottles of champagne and a bottle of rum. |
'spose I should get some breaky and pack a bag full of clobber. Also need to run the pooch around to a mates house before we leave.
|
Clobber = Waders or scuba gear in this case?

Last weekend of 2016, here we go...

Wow, this past week I've been getting one or two emails a day past my spam filters from Local Sluts wanting to send me pictures. And NO I haven't been searching for anything like that. Maybe I should just reply, "Send Nudes" and see what happens.

All packed up, tojo has 170L of bang water, ready to rock and roll. |
Have an 8 yo Mac Intel based 1u Rack server. It's fiberchanneled to a 24 TB raid array. It has 2 1 TB internal drives that were Raid level 1, my mistake. One of the two drives errored and since it is a boot set the raid array wouldn't boot. IT Director is going to toss it because it's too old. They replace the PC servers every 4 years. If I would have had the interal drive backup and failover to the other internal drive instead of raid, it would have kept chugging and they never would have known about it. Think the 2008 Mac Servers are going for about $200 on ebay.

Stijn!!
We are having fun cleaning the aquarium. She has a bunch of cichlids in the tank. Next we "get" to clean the koi pond filters. And if I am extra lucky we will pick up dog poo in the back yard. Mega New Years party time here.

Happy New Year to the Pelicans across the pond and beyond.
We got junior moved into his room downstairs yesterday. By "we" I mean he and my wife did it. I went and got Hank's dog license and spent some time drooling over drumkits at the drum store. When I returned it was mostly done. :D Today I fixed the railing around the stair opening. Hank chewed up the trim around the knule post. Of course, the kids swing around the post going up or down so I had to reinforce the attachment points. We aren't doing anything tonight but watching tv. Maybe get a movie off Netflix. Woohoo, we are party animals. |
