We usually have an ice storm on new years. Must be global warming.

Whew all heck broke loose on the main computer Night watch tonite. A resource scheduling program had paused. It paused to put up a stupid notice requiring acknowledgment before it would continue. The notice was that license needed renewed within the next 30 days. arggh, Not good for an automatically scheduled daily program. Especially when there are other programs that are dependent on that program running first. It could have just sent a comment to the system monitor, but nooo, it can't do that. A comment isn't disruptive enough. It has to stop the whole process.

The worst part for Me as the Watchman doesn't know the process has stopped until it's typical run time end has been missed. So when the message popped up early in the process, once it was resumed verything was delayed a couple of hours. If it would have sent a message to the console I would have seen it and resolved it much sooner. Arrgh, programmers.

Yea, sometimes programmers are expecting everyone to sit at the computer for endless hours watching the program run to hit the continue button.

On our mapping program that assembles the hundreds or thousands of images together into a single final image has three steps. Step one is just identify each image, and the position of the camera in XY&X plus the angle the camera was pointing, as in was the airplane going north or west or whatever, and the lens is ideally supposed to point down but the airplane yaws and rotates, in 3D. It is amazing the math needed to do that. Anyway the computer uses the camera GPS, and the IMU to make a best guess. It is usually within a few feet or up to 40 feet off. It also put it in the mapping coordinate system we told it we want to use.

We then go in and zoom in on a part of the image with a ground control point laid down by the surveyor and surveyed in to 1/10 of on inch accuracy. The target is often some 1 square foot black and white vinyl floor tiles. We tell our program that a certain point is the XYX the surveyor told us, and then we rerun step one. We have to then run a quality report to see the results. For whatever reason the program requires us to tell it manually, run the quality report. No way to tell the program, make the quality report every time. Often one or two targets need a little more tweaking to get them right where they are supposed to be. Once we get a eport that all is withing a very tight tolerance, we are happy and let it finish the next two steps.

In the end we get a "map" that the surveyors put their stamp on and send to the final client. It is a digital file anyone with mapping software from Google Earth to crazy expensive complex programs will open and place into the proper position on planet earth.

Mrs. Carrera just could not handle the extreme party hardy, New Years Eve we had of going out for Pizza on NYE and being out until almost dark. She had one piece of pizza and a glass of unsweetened tea. She started feeling yucky that evening. All day yesterday she she was miserable, and not know what body part to point at the toilet. I made a Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto bismol generic) run to the local convenience store. That helped a lot.

She is feeling much better today but still not back to 100%

I was sick once, I did not like it, so I don't do that anymore.

Think if any of that stomach stuff tries to get me, it runs into whatever it is already going on in my gut and can't handle it.

Heard of a new thing to do if you get a barfer. Tablespoon at a time of heavy syrup from like canned peaches . It is claimed to stop the barfing. Especially the dry heaves.

Bro had something like that Wed and Thurs after Christmas. Tolded me bout it after eatin lunch with him Friday. I still feel normal for me except last couple of days have had a sinus headache on just the left side. Probably some sort of tumor.

The the REAL cure as told to me by a 95 pound lady I used to know, one shot of Tequila, chased by a beer, ever 10 minutes. Continue until you pass out. I have often wondered if she is still alive. I tried to keep up with her one evening. That is the drunkest I have ever been, and I will never get that smashed again. I learned that lesson when I was in my mid 20s. She literally drank me under the table. I woke up under the table with my face imprinted on the carpet. I remembered all of that night, and there is nothing much I would ever want to do again, just a couple beers is more than enough for me. That chick could drink like a real pro.

She is upright and walking around today without assistance. Vastly improved. I am sure it was my dedicated care, and stepping and fetching.

That's good.

On a lighter note I'm not getting email updates on posts now that I logged in with my phone over the holiday. Got any ideas?

Oh, FETCHING.
I knew you said that.

Glad she's feeling better.
I get the flu about once every dozen years.
Hate it.
Not that anyone likes it, I guess. I know I don't.

Woke up yesterday with my face red and swollen. Looks like I have been in a fight. Doc gave me some meds to fix it. Already helping some.

Happy new year all.

Bacterial infection. At least it doesn't hurt like a fall on my face does.

We had rain Monday that turned to snow overnight. The plows took the snow off the ice but did not salt the road. Leave the snow on the ice on the roads if you aren't going to salt dinglebats. Pete, maybe you could shed some light on that reasoning? I saw they did gravel it this afternoon.
