My computer parts are supposed to arrive on Friday.

It was a large credit card purchase, but not even remotely close to the credit limit. When I was doing the purchase it sent me to a web site for my credit card and had me enter a 6 digit code they texted me to verify it was really me. No sweat, and I was happy it did.

I entered all the numbers, and it was all good. Then two minutes later I get an email and the purchase was declined. Grumble grumble. So I called the card provider. I explained I did the 6 digit code, and the fraud detection still stopped the purchase. He said he can see the charge attempt. So even though I had logged in and called with my registered cell phone number, he sent yet another code for me to read to him to really be sure it was me. He said it would go through, so back to Newegg. Enter the credit card info again, and presto change, it went through.

$5,800 seems to be range that gets their attention. I just can't wait to get it built and operational.

I bet that computer would run circles around the laptop they give me to do CAD. Its boat anchor.

GH85Carrera 11-27-2019 08:55 AM

I hope it runs circles around my current computer. I will for sure reprocess the project that took 4 days on my computer to see how fast it is.

Porsche-poor 11-27-2019 09:21 AM

I'll take the old one for CAD.

RKDinOKC 11-27-2019 09:26 AM

My 4 year old mac laptop runs circles around the derp, er, uh, dell they gave me.

Nephew called, he is thinking of getting a 911 to flip.
Done a lot of research. A bit worried about crank bearing or main seal failure.
Told him that was like the coolant pipes in the cam valley on the cayenne, get one that;s been fixed.

Said he was surprized that a 911 with miles and records was worth more than low miles, especially if the black box recorded that it had been driven hard, ie redlined and floored a lot. Thought that was interesting because when my BoxsterS spun a rod bearing it was during and autocross. I was informed they had checked the black box and I hadn't done anything to cause it to spin a rod bearing so Porsche would be replacing the engine. That was the first i had ever heard of a black box in a car.

Yea, we had lots of wind as well. 50 MPH gusts at times. We were lucky to miss the snow that Colorado got, and now Jim and Sidney are sending me rain for tomorrow.

We’re doing our best.

The rain would be nice, if we were not gonna do a 100 mile each way road trip.

Jim Richards 11-27-2019 08:38 PM

We still have two more days of rain that we’ll send along to you. SmileWavy

RKDinOKC 11-28-2019 05:27 AM

Yikes

Shower this morning was warm only with it turned to full hot. That wind storm evening before last musta blowed out the pilot light. Good water heat to still be warm over 24 hours later.

Glad can just turn an knob and push a button to relight, and don't have to try to stick some kind of long match in a hole.

Back years ago in my bachelor days at the house I lived in I had neighbors two houses down, across the street that were a married couple and both of them were in wheel chairs. I knew them as wave and nod neighbors, but a single guy (me) had little reason to go hang out with a couple and their two little kids.

Anyway one day one of the little kids knocked on the door, and asked if I could come light the pilot light on their water heater. He was pretty brave to walk that far, and knock on a strangers house. Of course his dad was in their driveway watching. So I walked down there and it was the old 1970s style where a cover had to be removed, and I had to lay on the floor, and light it with a match on the end of a pair of needle nose pliers.

I gave them the name of a licensed plumber I knew to come check that water heater out, as it looked old and rusty. They ended up replacing the water heater, as it was not long for the world. They thought I was a hero for lighting the water heater, and recommending a good honest plumber. For me it was a 5 minute easy favor to do.

Stijn!!

Burp.

Good meal as always.

Happy Turkey day all.

On of my wife’s nephews is a college student. He came by here to visit and eat. And most of all get leftovers. Next he is off to another grandparents house to eat and get more leftovers.

Found why the cayenne has not been picked up yet.
She has be trying to pay $725.
Transport broker told me trucks won't pick up a $725 job when they can get $950 jobs.
Said it may take a month or longer for a truck to have and empty spot to take a cheaper load.
I scheduled transport company for $950.
Paying the $225 difference so I don't have to wait til after Christmas to get the car.
They say it will be picked up by noon tomorrow.
Delivery by Wed or Thurs at the latest. it's 1300 miles and they only do 500/day.

It is chilly and rainy today. Good day to catch up on napping.

Jim Richards 11-28-2019 03:04 PM

No rain this past 30 minutes or so. Shocking.

RKDinOKC 11-28-2019 04:40 PM

Didn't get invited to Thanksgiving dinner, probably figured I couldn't get around well enoug yet. But they did bring by enough stuff to make 4 plates full of turkey, stuffing, etc, and chocolate creme pie.

Well it is raining here in Holtville in the low desert. Otherwise the weather has been terrible. Every stinking day, sunny and 72. No variation.

Dang, that sucks compared to the weather at home. Don’t get sunburned.

It did rain all the way up to Enid and just a light drizzle coming home.

Jim Richards 11-28-2019 10:07 PM

Maybe some overnight and/or early morning rain and then a few days off before the next rain. It’s nice to leave my irrigation system off.

Good Monday, um wait, to today is Friday.

My mean old greedy boss is gonna keep me at the computer, finishing up a job that will pay the owners of the company for the next month. It is going to be another cold rainy day outside, so a good day to stay inside anyway.

The computer parts should start arriving today. Since I really want my new toys, I figure UPS will deliver them late, and some vital part will be back ordered.

My wife and I went on Wednesday to get new cell phones. We had 5 year old iPhone 5S phones. Now we have new iPhone 11. Since I am a pro, I got the 11 Pro with three cameras. Wide angle, normal, and telephoto. All stabilized and high res to boot. Cool toys, um er tools!
