I'm surprised they don't track the drain down and make them pay for all of it.

That drain headed off at an weird angle. Shy of scoping it with a camera how would they know where it originated? It was DEEP down, and would be hard to follow. It hope to see someone in the area with a backed up drain but that is unlikely. I don't think anyone around here has a basement.

Who knows how far away it came from.

We are supposed to get a break in the silly humidity here this weekend. 80s for the highs and reasonable humidity again. That will be nice.

I have a few chores to do on the 911 before the trip to Parade. I bought a new window switch for the driver's side door. I noticed at the track day in Texas that I had to wiggle the switch to get it to work. I can't risk that failing in the down position. It is a pin in the fingers to swap all the wires, but that switch has been in there a long time. I replaced it shortly after I got the car back in 95.

Parade should be fun. We are taking a tour of Churchill Downs. My wife loves watching the Derby, and the three races for the triple crown. We live just 5.2 miles from a race track but I have only been there twice and that was 30+ years ago, she has never gone.

There are some other fun tours we will take. I don't bother trying to do the competitive events. My car is a driver and not remotely a concours car. The rally is a much fun as a day of oral surgery, and the autocross takes up an entire day and she is stuck in the hotel room while I play.

She can come up with those at any moment at random. The front yard had on spindly tree to mow around when we moved in. Mowing the front was a piece of cake, straight lines and switch to diagonal to avoid tire ruts.

Now we have 7 things in the yard to edge and mow around. There is a 6 foot stone ring for a crepe myrtle, a 6 foot ring for the new holly tree, and a 4 foot ring for the ginko tree. When edging yesterday I went around the three of them one after the other and started getting dizzy. The long 12 foot flowerbed that was once just yard is a rectangle so I was able to recover.

For sure less grass to mow, but lots more to edge. And that is just the front yard.

Ok guys I need to replace the existing home computer. Basic box for printing is all I need. Thoughts on below?

What type of printer needs a dedicated computer? Is it a wide format plotter?

If you are running RIP software to print large format prints that computer should be plenty. for line drawings.

My printer at home is a typical small office color laser printer that is stand alone, on the WI-FI network. My wife can print to it from her iPad and it does great for my printing needs.

Back in the stone ages the HP LaserJet 2 was introduced about 1987. I was doing the local regional newsletter back then with a typewriter with an home made interface to my Commodore 64.

The club had a good year with Tech and had extra funds to spend so they decided to let me by a Laserjet 2. It was just under 3 grand, just giant in size and built to last. It made a huge improvement in the newsletter. One of the board members seemed convinced I was going to run a service bureau or something and print a lot with that fancy printer.

One of my buddies worked at a large engineering company that had lots of the same printer. They printed a LOT of stuff. It was easy to print a report from the printer to show the page count. I asked him to print a report of one of the busiest printers. It was well into the 200,000 pages and was perfect.

At one board meeting I let that report lay on the table next to me. The one board member about blew a gasket when he saw that. Then I showed him the real report and it was few hundred pages. He decided I was not likely to wear out the printer with our use.

He was the one jerk that was insisting we hold board meeting and follow Robert's rules of order for meetings. We all told him to relax, and no way are we getting that formal. He dropped off the board and no one missed him.

My last printer was working fine, but it was a 4 page per minute old B&W only laser printer. Apple kept changing the print protocols and I managed to get it to work for a while, but then Apple got serous and made it impossible to print to. My wife had to email her her file or web link and have me print it.

Then the IRS decided we needed a full audit in our second year of business. I had to buy a printer-scanner-fax-copier to prepare the mountain of paperwork. I used two reams of paper and spent a week solid on that. The new printer has full blow Apple print and is happy to print her stuff.

So far I have only printed 3408 pages and over 150 of those were just envelops. It will be a while before I wear it out. A new set of toner cartridges is dirt cheap, like 40 bucks and they last a long time and never dry out as they are powered toner.
