Been that way here for years but the kid is leaving for LA in the and it expires in a little over a week.

My brother has been busy fixing up his replacement VW van. His old 71 he had owned since 1978, and mechanically it was perfect and obviously just the way he wanted it as far as equipment and layout. The new to him 71 has been a show car for many years, and driven very little. He is loving the roof mounted AC unit, and plugs it into the house, and can work on the interior in comfort. He has ripped out 100 pounds of fancy tile and fru fru curtains are now replaced with canvas. The shower is gone, as is the TV. The sliding door on the side is tricky to get to work perfectly and open with the pull on the handle and slide open easily. The new one was missing rollers and the lock did not work. The good news is he bought the old van from the insurance company and has it stored in a barn of a friends. He has an entire parts vehicle that way. He had to use a saws all to get the door open on the old bent van and to get to the locks and rollers.

He has a car show to go to next week that is a 100 mile trip. It will be the first road trip for the new van. The former owner just put it on a trailer and pulled it to the car show. My brother is driving the car as it should be.

Morning all. Well they head south this morning. Going to LMU. Which of course means I'm here with the grand kid and his mom. I'll try and not go nuts.

Phew, the bosses wife had me working!

First I had to play chauffeur for her to got to the local sod place and buy some Fescue seeds. We can't sow them until fall, but she is afraid with the Army worm invasion lots of Fescue will be getting planted to replace the eaten parts.

Then I "got" to play arborist. The large tree just on the other side of the fence in the neighborhood association area lost a limb. Not a huge one, but it needed to come down. So Glen gets to get the tree pole saw. It is not a chain saw, just a saw blade and lots of back and forth sawing at the end of a 20 foot pole. That fell, then we "got" to cut it up. So out comes the electric chain saw. The smaller limbs are easy with just cutters, but the main trunk parts are the size of my wrist. Stuff it all in the two trash cans and today is trash day so it will all be gone later today.

There was a breeze but it was sweaty work.

She was helping a little. One of the great Christmas presents I got her is a battery operated shear or clippers. It will cut off a limb the size of a man's thumb with the simple pull of the trigger. She has really weak grip, and struggled to cut simple pruning projects. She had never even heard of them and uses them a lot. So she was cutting the small parts to make them fit in the trash cans. My chain saw is a plug in 110 volt saw. The neighborhood association has electricity to the wall that is basicly in my yard for the water sprinkler system. I just used an extension cord and that electricity so one extension cord was enough.

They have electric pole saws that work well. All I have is an old one like you so I just grab a ladder and the electric chain saw or sawzall.

Our plumb tree had a lot of plumbs this year for the first time. Tart skin and juicy. You need a napkin if you eat them.

Actually I'm going nuts. Wife went CA with the college boy, daughter may have a break up going on and may need help driving home from AK.

Well, if my wife was out that way she could help. She is getting into Wichita tonight from Gallup. My Mother in Law and her husband are headed back to Fort Smith, but that is a multi day drive for them and he is an idiot so they wouldn't be much help either.

I just checked in my my Junk folder for Outlook. 33 junk messages in the last week. One was even the tried and true "male enhancement" garbage. I had not seen one of those is years. Several were very nice reminders that I need to click a link to pick up my refund of $900 or the free gift waiting for me.

I used to laugh at the ones for both male member and breast enhancement, but that seems to be the norm for some people now so it isn't so strange anymore.

Wife gets home from her brother's funeral today. It has been a month.

I always figured if the breast enhancement creme worked her hands would also be enormous from the application.

Double check with Canada before you go. My friend that lives in Anchorage had to fly out and he could not drive his 911 to Parade. Getting across Canada was just not allowed.

There is a ferry of course that takes a few days but never stops in Canada.

Our airplane is back in annual. The battery for the emergency transponder need to be replaced. One air filter needs replacement, mostly little stuff. The auxiliary lights bulbs for the basic instruments need to be fixed as they are really dim. We sure as hell can't take pictures at night, so we don't fly at night often, mostly when getting to or from an out of state project or flying a football stadium all lit up at night.

The stupid little bulbs for instrument lights are over $100 EACH! Likely the same bulb for a car is a pack of a dozen for 15 bucks. The main instrument panels are oversize iPad like displays and have their own lighting. but if they all went out and you are flying at night, you need to see the instruments with more than a flashlight. Unless of course the alternator and the battery died and you are flying at night, then the flashlights come out. No big deal, gotta do it.

Isn't the Alcan highway about 2,000 miles? Is it all paved now? I guess if you rent a truck you will not care about the vehicle rock chips.
