My 911 mechanic suggested the best looking white is GP white.
Now the 5 is GP white, Glen and I have something in common. 😎👍

Yea, lots of air cooled cars here. We toured the Yuengling Brewery today. The oldest brewery in the USA. Started in 1829.


Coming from the ceiling are the empty cans, and leaving are full cans.


This is the filler-upper. I doubt they call it that, but is cans beer at a very high speed. Bottles are only done at 1/3 the speed.

The cans or bottles head over the pasteurizing machine, and off to packaging.

They forced me to try some free samples. One of the beers they makes is all consumed by the greedy mean citizens of PA, and only sold in the area around the plant. I snagged a 24 pack at the gift shop. I can't ever get it again. Yuengling is not even sold in Oklahoma yet. Maybe someday soon.

Back when they first started making beer there, they hired some local miners to dig into the hill behind the brewery. It is solid rock, and they dug it all out by hand. It stays nice and cool down there and is perfect to age the beer. When Prohibition hit, the feds came along and destroyed all the beer barrels, except one, and they walled off the tunnels.

They made ice cream during that time to stay open. No refrigeration needed, and they had enough tunnels to store all the beer they produced. The tour guide shows us one door that was the "government room" and only the feds had keys. It was to measure the production for taxation. They pay the feds 18 bucks per barrel, and the state gets 2 bucks.

Yesterday we drove to Jim Thorpe, PA and caught a scenic train, that was a 4 on a 1 to 10 scale for scenic.

Fun but BUMPY roads here in PA.

Today we took a LONG and winding tour of some pretty areas on more BUMPY roads. There was just one really nice smooth and curvy road like almost all of Arkansas. I am spoiled by the Arkansas smooth and super curvy and fun roads.

After driving for 4 hours and only one rest stop, we went to a nice German food place. Then just a 40 minute trip back to the hotel.

We head back west to the furnace tomorrow. It is 64 degrees right now. We hit 78 briefly one day, and back to the 60s mostly. I hope we can drag some of the cool temps back with us.

I have been sent out to Springfield, MA for work in my younger days. In my free time, I would go for motorcycle rides through the Berkshires. I always noted that the roads got nicer (smoother/better kept) when passing from MA to CT.

Mrs. Carrera is feeling poorly. She thinks sinus infection, not real bad, but she is not happy.

So we only did a easy day today. Same tomorrow. Home on Sunday. So one more hotel bill, and several more meals to pay for.

We made it home today. All was well.

My wife is feeling better, but I got the hives. Never before in my life had I had hives. We went to a local "Doc in the box" shop and actually saw a real doctor. He had the nurse give me a shot in the butt, and 5 prednisone tablets to take one per day. I feel some better, but still ITCHY at all the spots, mostly on my back and arms.

He asked if there has been anything in my life recently. I said, well I have been on vacation for 10 days, sleeping in 5 different hotels, using their shampoo, and soaps, eating at restaurants every meal. Other than that, riding in a car for 4,000 miles or so through multiple states. I was guessing at the mileage at the time. It was only 3,349 miles total. I am just a few miles shy of 186.000 miles on the 911 now. I really want to wash it, but it is silly hot outside now, and I can wash it in the morning in the shade, and have a much more comfortable time of it.

Back to work!

I had to go deliver a print to a customer. It is 95 degrees outside now. I cranked up the AC on the Elky and get my wonderful 38 degree air in huge gobs of air flow.

I was curious just how the accumulator and orifice tube were looking. The large bottle is the accumulator, the lower horizontal pipe is where the orifice tube is, and the orifice tube is what turns the liquid into a vapor and makes the wonderful coldness. That flows right into the evaporator that the fan blows through into the cabin of the car. The tube is actually below freezing, and has white frost on it, in the engine compartment! The evaporator is just about freezing, but the fan keeps it above freeze up. Coming out the the evaporator the vapor goes to the accumulator, and as you can see, it is cold enough to gather condensation from the air, like a bottle of beer on a humid day. Even the pipe returning to the compressor is COLD. That helps keep the compressor cool.

I have to say the AC kicks butt in the tiny cabin of the El Camino. I love it!

I had to rescue the thread from page three.

Well the 911 got washed, and is mostly cleaned out on the inside. We are going to a local PCA regional meeting, meal and bench racing event tonight.

I had to borrow my wife's Macan to deliver some large prints at Will Rogers International Airport. Of course I can't park in front, just stand by the vehicle and wait for them to come out and pick them up. She took 5 minutes to get to me. She said she saw me down at one end, but did not think a car that size could carry a 48x72 mounted print. It was a really tight fit.

David, I hope your vacation was fun. Now get to work making purdy drawings!

Afternoon all. I got back home about 7pm last night. Got about 7 hours of sleep in 24 hours of travel time. I'm beat. Had a lot of fun. Saw lots of art and buildings. Ate good food and drinks. Now to catch up with work.

Ain't travel is fun and exciting! One of the guys I know is from Nepal. When he goes "back home" to visit is is 36 hours of travel, with aircraft, buses, cars, trains and lots more trains.

I got my yard mowed and fertilized this weekend, so now I can mow every 4 or 5 days. Golly it will be fun.

I got up early this morning, and washed the El Camino. It was way, way overdue. In the spring, we had rain every few days, and it was pointless to wash it. Then the rains and cool weather left, and it turned hot and dry. Somehow washing the car in 90+ degree heat is just not much fun. This morning it was 64 degrees, low humidity, very light breeze, and perfect car washing weather. So I did.

It is nice to have a clean vehicle again. Well three actually. The Porsches are both clean as well.
