afternoon all. working from home today and all next week. This weekend its stain the deck and pull weeds. I might die.

GH85Carrera 07-15-2022 11:17 AM

Pull weeds?

That is what weed killing chemicals are for. Spray it on and the weeds die.

Porsche-poor 07-15-2022 11:51 AM

I try and keep that to a min.

ted 07-15-2022 12:38 PM

Yeah try to avoid spraying or pulling weeds.

Now my air cleaner fastener never vibrates loose.
Thumb screw style with a small O ring acts like a lock washer and stays tight.

Ted, a piece of rubber applied in the right place and time is often useful. ;)

A carbon Fiber air cleaner. Not on the daily driver I guess.

Porsche-poor 07-15-2022 12:46 PM

Depending on how the allergies react to a little gardening. I may call the whole thing off.

That's ok this week I did enough for both of us. :)
Readjusted 5 zones of drip emitters today.
Laced a big dusty rosemary shrub and other plants, filled 3 big cans of greens.

Porsche-poor 07-15-2022 03:44 PM

ok I quit then. No need to push my luck.

The alternator on the minivan went out again. Mrs. Noah ordered one from a shop. I pulled the old one last night and am going to exchange it (for its core) for a new one this morning. In which box should I bring it?

Hey all. Been off for a bit. We just took a loop from home, up through the UP, down to the west coast of MI, then the east coast of MI, then lake Erie on down to Columbus and Dayton and home. Just over 2300 miles. My mind is impressed the minivan can go 520-580 miles on 18 gallons, but my bladder is not impressed.

Looks like everyone is up to the same old thing.

GH85Carrera 07-18-2022 04:48 AM

Noah, the alternator swap looks like fun. I learned over the years to take the time to have the old one rebuilt by a local professional rebuild place. They rebuilt it better than most part store Chinese or South American factory that mostly wants volume, and not quality.

The good news is I can swap the alternator on my El Camino in 15 minutes if I take my time to clean the bracket before putting it on the new alternator.

Brent, it sounds like a nice trip. With my wife, we usually go two hours minimum, and sometimes three hours between stops to "rest" and the rest stop. My 911 can go 500 miles non stop but my bladder sure can't.

Porsche-poor 07-18-2022 06:58 AM

Moring all. Got the chores done and had time to take a little drive in the 911 on Sunday.

Yeah about 400 miles for my rest stops.
Also stopped eating much on those long sedentary driving days.
It is nice to get on the open road once in a while.
My next tow is to Laguna Seca in a month.
We leave at 3am so at 6am we are just north of Los Angeles.

I took this just after passing a truck, to have no traffic in the photo. I don't remember where that was. It does not look like Maine, or Colorado or the deep south.

We often get totally open roads. Only a few other cars in sight. The biggest shock to us was upstate New York had areas that the traffic was just nothing. As a kid that only say NY on TV and movies, I figured the entire state was much like NYC.

Even on the Penn Turnpike there were areas that had little traffic. Most of it was heavy traffic.

I just finished having more fun. Digging in the yard, and raised up some more sprinkler heads. Then edged and mowed the yard. The breeze was nice, but the humidity was still pretty high. Totally flushed out my sweat glands again.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2022 07:11 AM

Morning all. Well the crew hacked back the blackberries and now I have at least two fence boards to replace later this week.

GH85Carrera 07-19-2022 12:53 PM

It is a tad warm here today. OK, scratch that it is insane hot. 108 or 110 depending on who you believe. Heat index is 117. Just insane to be outside. The mowing crew for the yard next door just showed up, and mowed the yard. 6 guys all dressed in hoodies - long sleeve shirts and long pants. All wearing large hats. I just know they have been mowing all day, and will be mowing until dark. I can remember being out in it the year I installed the sprinkler. I was 20 years younger, and drank a lot of water that summer. You can get used to it, but it just sucks.

Fortunately the AC is running just fine.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2022 01:10 PM

That is nuts. Currently 75 and might only hit 81 today.

GH85Carrera 07-19-2022 01:34 PM

We went almost two years and never hit 100. This year is just back to HOT.

It is just the reverse of cold weather. If ya go from house to Air Conditioned car, and then get into the air conditioning quickly, no big deal. The first few minutes of getting back in the car can suck if the AC is pitiful. My cars have good AC, the Macan has amazing AC, and AC seats to boot. We are way off the record year of 2011. That was hot.

Porsche-poor 07-19-2022 03:49 PM

up to 82 now. Big deal I know.
