Get off my lawn!

Ours is old enough it is a top load. Those are hard to find anymore.
Now they are all computer controlled and an entire motherboard has to be replaced to fix issues. Back in my single days, the house I bought, came with an old all mechanical dish washer. The timer control just died. I took it off, and went to a appliance parts place with the old one, and a model number of the dishwasher. The kid on the computer looked it up and said they were no longer available, and I was out of luck. Just then the "old grey" walked past and stopped and picked up my old timer and said something like "Wow an old XB22-A timer" I haven't seen one of these in years. The kid said they are not in the computer. The old grey said they were never added to the system, he reached under the front counter, and pulled one out that had a 1/4 inch of dust on the box. He blew it off, and opened the box, and it was the exact part I needed. It even had a warranty card! He said that is the last one, and no need to put it in the computer now. I did not bother sending in the warranty, but it fixed my problem and it was working fine when I sold the house many years later.

Morning all. Well the ADT tech came to the same verdict I did. It needs a new comm. module. Someone will be out Saturday from 12-4 to replace it.

Golly what a genius technician. Maybe that will fix the issue. I would still find a new company and see if they have better service.
The boss's wife came in my office and ordered me outside to dig in her garden, on the far west edge of the property. It was once something I mowed, but was converted to a flower garden many years ago. It was always a challenge to keep the grass happy, as it is right next to the edge of the concrete of the driveway-parking area and the 6 foot stockade fence on the west side of the property, with a large tree making shade. It does get morning sun for a few hours, but the rest of the time it is in shade. It is just a strip two feet wide along the fence line. I was "allowed" to dig up some bushy thing that had outgrown the designated space it was allowed to occupy. It is in the trash can now. She has dozens of plants in the guest bathtub, and in the kitchen all started from seeds or cuttings from last year. Once all of those are in the ground, the gardens will only need a few dozen trips to the nurseries to fill up. It was 62 degrees at dawn, and supposed to hit near 80 today. I think they are overshooting the temp guesses. Unless the clouds go away, we will never get out of the low to mid 70s.

Yea, this one is from a lawsuit that the attorney is fighting on property boundaries between Texas and Oklahoma. It was surveyed a zillion years ago, and done in local coordinates, and they want the new survey to match up with it.
I had to have a text editor, Google Maps, the main program that makes the orthophoto, and two copies of a map editor program, and it was still a challenge to figure out. But we will hit them with the WFT coordinate fee.

Having fun here. I finally got the project from hell working, and great residuals and accuracy. We are not surveyors, and we never claim to be. The attorney contacted us for the aerial photos, and we just called one of our regular surveyors. He is the main contractor, and we just provide him the orthophoto, and he stamps it with his stamp, and it is then a survey.
We had fun getting the humidifier disassembled, cleaned and put back in the attic. Then we had more fun and cleaned out the tornado shelter. Just vacuum the leaves that manage to find a home down there. And one dead skink. The poor guy crawled down and had no way back out. He was almost a desiccated mummy.

Dang it, I hate doing aerials of rivers and lakes! The surface of the water flashes up and reflects the sun when the airplane and the sun are in the proper angle. Other times, it is just water but since we fly a series of flight lines like mowing the yard in the sky, it has patches of reflective and normal water. It is just water, and no real information but the shore line. Which just happens to be the boundary between Oklahoma and Baja Oklahoma AKA Texas. And of course the recent rains in that area have the river and ponds all full. I guess that is why I call it work or a job.
We had bands of rain come through last night, we were in the slots of almost no rain. We got .11 inches and just a couple of miles north and south they got several inches and flash flooding warnings. We did not worry much about flooding with .11 inches of rain know that when we got 12 inches over 48 hours many years ago, we had no flooding.

Glen, you need polarized windows!
Going back to the older cars, companies now think that a fast time on a famous German road is what makes a car fun. I always thought an interactive car was fun. I guess that is why I always prefered a Viper over a Vette. We replaced our broken front load washwr with a new GE top load unit. Got a matching dryer and gave our working dryer to mom and dad since theirs was getting hard to find boards for after 35 years. My wife gets a GE discount since she is a lead project manager for GE Healthcare. We dont have an alarm system out here, but we do have annoying video door bells. New job is crazy busy and I get to take over a couple large projects with virtualization. Very laid back atmosphere and good coffee. We might actually make our trip to Maine this year. Our original date my wifes brother passes and last year I had little PTO. |

Our camera system is not shot through a window, it is out in the air flow.
One of our regular clients had been using the same FTP site for a long time. It was slow, but steady and it sometimes took hours to get uploaded. They "went to the dark side" and changed to Amazon's system AWS. I had to download and install Cyberduck to upload files to them now. WOW, finally a fast FTP service. I uploaded a large file and it was flying up at the full speed of my internet service. I can't wait try downloading a file from them. I wonder what the throttle the speed down to. THe 35 up was fast, I bet they don't allow my full 900+ down. It is certainly a lot faster than our One Drive we get for "free" with our Office 365 service.

Yeah, I know the camera didn't take pics through a window. The quality would suck and you mentioned where the camera is mounted in the past, but polarized windows made a better joke.

It comes down to geometry. The client wants us to fly it as close to solar noon as possible to reduce shadow length. The airplane shadow has been caught in photos before. A body of water reflects the sun and wham, a giant reflecting pool of water that looks like crap.
There is no easy fix unfortunately. And the stupid part is is is just water. No detail no real information except, you the rive or ponds are full. The shore line is important, and the land is important, but water is water but we prefer to deliver a good looking image so I get to fight with it.

Wow, what a pretty day for a drive!
24 cars drove up Rt-66 to Stroud, OK and ate at the Rock Cafe. We pretty much filled the place up. We had called ahead, and they were ready for us. The owner is the inspiration for Sally Carrera in the movie Cars. ![]() This is just one small part of the cars that were in the group. My car is the white one on the far end. It is funny how it seems to be in most of the photos I take of the group. The coolest part is one of the members has a "Sally Carrera" 911. It is the normal 911 with the same paint and wheels, and the eyes in the windshield in their sunshade. ![]() Their tag is derivation of Sally Carrera that I will not post on an open forum. It was sun up, blue skies and 60 degrees and all the wind machines were turned off and there was no wind. Just a glorious day. When we got home, I cleaned off the smashed bugs, and cleaned up the wheels.
