Get off my lawn!
|
Quote:
Our male dachshund just locks up in whatever position he was in when we put a collar and leash on him. After I carry him to the front yard sidewalk he will eventually start to sniff the new smells of other people and dogs that walked by. After 5 minutes he will start to act like a dog that wants to go for a walk. I have never known a dog that hated going for a walk. He was that way from when he was a puppy and he is 12 now. In the end, taking the dog is not worth it.

Our last set of dachshunds loved going for a walk. Not this pair.
We went to visit some friends this morning. It is my wife's best friends and her husband. They just built a greenhouse and my wife wanted to see it. It is pretty nice, and will get a real test in a couple of weeks when we are expecting arctic air to visit. Lows in the single digits. The only good news is no dang snow or ice.

My computer and watch tell me it is Monday. With the holidays it is hard to keep track. Of course for me there is not much difference. It is one reason I have a watch to tell me what time it is, and the date. Soon I will have to learn to write 2025 and remember that 2024 is gone. My watch tells me the year as well.
![]() As a science fiction fan I read a lot of novels and short stories based way in the future of 2025 era. Heck I read 1984 back in the early 70s when 1984 was way off in the future. The same for 2001 and the sequel 2010.

Morning all. I keep track that way as well. Except now I don't care to know what day it is.

I like to keep up with what day is which to be sure that Tuesday is Burger day a great restaurant. They have excellent burgers, and on Tuesday they are 1/2 price. Another place has Pizza day on Thursday. A pizza buffet for cheap.

Ok those are good reasons. Tuesday is trivia day for us but the last two weeks have been a no go.

Arrrrgggggh.
As treasurer for our PCA region i send the invoice and take the checks. I received a check and she wrote what it was for in the memo line. One of the loops in her cursive writing went down to the MICR code. I could not get the phone app to accept it. Grumble grumble. So I had to drive 2.5 miles to the local branch. As I pulled into the parking lot, I saw 8 cars in the two drive through lanes. No one was in the go inside parking lot. I walked in, a smiling human was happy to take of me, and accepted the check, and I was out of there. The drive through line did not look much different as I left. I hope to never ever be so lazy to not just get out of the car and go into the business. I hate drive throughs and dozens of people just sitting there idling in their cars. I had to use a few drive through windows during the bad old days of the China flu. I did not care for it then either, but the inside restaurant was closed.

Morning all. One last day to 2024. Make it a good one. I'm sure it will go out with a bang around here, lots of fire works.

The kids across the street that used to shoot off fireworks, which is illegal in Oklahoma City, they are all grown up, and have little kids. It is usually pretty quiet on new Years Eve around here at midnight.
I never did understand what makes it worth a party, getting drunk and making noise. It is just another night like all the rest. We will be in bed by 10:30 as usual. I have not been up for midnight since 2000 when the world was going to implode with the Y2K bug. Pretty much, nothing happened, the TVs all worked. My computers were fine. I went to bed at 12:30 that night. I was running a BBS for PCA national back then. I had most of the newsletter editors swapping articles and graphics on it. At the 1996 Parade I was the registrar and our parade ws the first to have reports via a computer download. Before my BBS they had to mail the reports. My BBS did not even hiccup. It was a mighty IBM PC 4.77 MHz, PC running DOS 6.2 with 640K of memory and a 10 MG hard drive. I remember reading 2001 A space Odyssey back in 1969 which was when the paperback and the movie came out. 2001 seemed so far in the future. I went with my mom and brother. They were totally confused about the plot. I had to explain it to them on the ride home. It was set 32 year into the future! Now we are 24 years past 2001, or we will be tomorrow.

Just remember to poop tonight before midnight so you don't take crap from 2024 into 2025.

The weather folks are hinting to us that we might be getting some Fu**ing snow Sunday night to Monday. OMG, I better go buy the three whites, milk, bread, and toilet paper! Often in the forecast for snow or ice the store shelves empty of those items. I always wonder if the folks with chickens in the back yard make French Toast, and get diarrhea when it snows with the supplies. It makes no sense other wise.
In reality, we are stocked on TP. I never buy white bread. Our locally owned store, Braum's has great wheat bread they bake locally. Milk is for my wife, and she drinks 2% from Braum's We might have to get a 1/2 gallon of peanut butter cup ice cream to hold us over. Usually we avoid going out in bad conditions. We might need to go to her physical training in her 4 wheel drive Macan. It would be the first time ever in snow or ice for the Macan.

My nephew lives in Tabernash, CO. He has had several feet of snow, and he loves it. He can play on his 200 HP snowmobile. He even goes out with the snow patrol to set off avalanches before they get too big and dangerous. He can play with his snow blower, and he runs a snow plow for the part of the neighborhood he is in. It is all rural, so lots to plow.
I would consider it all hell. He just loves it. I think he is nuts, but it is just a different personality.

We are dry, and hoping for rain. We are supposed to get some Canadian air and below freezing weather. Dang Canadians hog the cool air in the summer, but share it in winter when we don't want it!
Another day of playing UBER driver. I dropped my wife off at the PT place or the torture chamber as she calls it. With Wednesday a holiday, she had to skip that day, but now she gets it today and tomorrow. She is doing remarkably well, and doing her exercises and PT at home on schedule. She is down to taking just 1/2 of the 5MG pain pills before the PT.
