yep, i had a similar incision and it really really sucked. it hurt to lift a finger. i remember them bringing that POS breathing thingie to my room (incentive spirometer) and telling me to breathe as deep as could while sucking on the tube.... let's just say that had i been stronger and in less pain, i would have laughed in their face. (remember, i was 18 at the time and a knucklehead.)

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 08:53 PM

So you went on to become the guy who brings in the POS, payback!!!!!!

nynor 02-01-2011 08:54 PM

yeah. irony.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 08:58 PM

yeah but your doing a good thing. Me at 43 I'm still a smart #$% sometimes the staff has fun with it others just don't get it. Last December I tried to get the nurse to race the gurney she was no fun.

nynor 02-01-2011 09:01 PM

LOL! i love the smarta$$ patients. i dish out as much as i receive. a man has to have fun at work. its mainly a matter of knowing which patients you can cut loose with and which you cannot. a lot of the patients i work with are there for a week or more (sometimes months), so i get to know some of them really well.

nynor 02-01-2011 09:02 PM

what is up with all the surgeries, if you don't mind my asking.....

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 09:04 PM

well from a patients point of view its a lot more fun if your not a number. At least I think so. That same visit with the split had me walking the halls. I said b.s. not even for a cute well built blonde. Just my luck they found one.......I had to walk. She was much to fast I never did catch her.

nynor 02-01-2011 09:08 PM

LOL!!!! that is awesome!

i always call patients by their name, or nickname if they prefer. i hate it when other staff tell me that room 340 needs me. i always ask them who 340 is and make them state the patients name. honestly, without the name, i don't know who they are talking about. with the name, i can formulate a better idea of what is going to be needed from me when i get to the room.

during one of my hospital visits, when i was 18, the best part was the bed bath. every day that week, it was this cute and shy brunette, probably 18 also. she would scrub me and scrub me. it felt so good. that was the only good thing about that hospital stay.

got paper?
chronic ear infections from two on so all that goes with that tubes, tonsils, adnoids, 2 mastoids, one radical mastoid, ear drum repair (failed) latest is a baha implant.
appendix 9th grade, lazy eye 12th grade, double hernia, blown ankle repair, blocked uriter (spelling) caused by poly-arteritis nodosa (spelling) Probably missing a few but thats the high points.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 09:12 PM

You got lucky with that one. She had this wild accent german I think. She was working the floor and would come by and ask if I was ready for a lap and then leave.........little tease.

nynor 02-01-2011 09:13 PM

LOL!!!!

we had a guy ask one of the nurses to help a dying guy out with a last romp in the hay. she laughed him off. i'll be damned if that guy didn't die that night. true story.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 09:14 PM

now ya know why I laugh when they bring out the little sheet of paper, last one I looked at and said you need more ink......

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 09:16 PM

that would have been out of the question. that was the blocked uriter trip.......

nynor 02-01-2011 09:17 PM

i bet that hurt like a sumbich.

nynor 02-01-2011 09:18 PM

didn't you say you read this entire thread while in the hospital? what were you in for that time?

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 09:23 PM

you have no idea. Right before we were to go to Disnayland I had what I thought was a kidney stone. Spent all nigh in the ER they sne my home and said go. During the day I was fine at night load up in fluids at dinner and you felt like you were sleeping on a rock. went home got an IVP (fun) "wow look at that blockage" 1st surge placed stint, stint removed in 3 weeks, colapse within hours, sched 2nd surg never made it kidney had to be ported to save as infection had set in. have 2nd surg to find that blockage was external to uriter (the poly thing) all better now. doc said if it had been 2" the other way he'd have taken the kidney and buttoned me up and said get it in order your done.......................

nynor 02-01-2011 09:25 PM

damn.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2011 09:26 PM

not in the hospt but sitting at home after the BAHA thing. I have little or no conductive hearing so we are trying a Bone Anchored Hearing Aide. A little TI abutment just behind the ear that an external aide hooks to in order to drive sound to the nerve. Read it while I couldn't do much else, got hooked couldn't quit.

My favorite line "sucks to be me"

My sister hates it when I say that so lets not tell her.
