So we were climbing tonight, and these three big dumb goons walk up and start monkeying around. They were asking the girls about a few things, b/c I was on top rope and couldn't be down there. I could tell they were NOOBS so when I got down I started showing them some of the better bouldering problems, and how to do them.... Big lugs didn't stand a chance, and they are all super fit football players.... You would have thought I was god to hear them talk, I was climbing pretty lousy after 2+ hours of bouldering too...

spent all last night/this morning in the ER getting some serious stitches in my foot.

life lesson: don't move furniture around your house while hammered.

worst part was driving myself to the hospital (which I had no idea where it was) using the clutch with a foot missing a big toe.

I've broken a lot of bones and had some nice blade wounds before, but this was by far the most painful thing I've experience.

All is well now. Staving off infection is my only concern. Plus I get to stay at home and take some much needed vacation from work.

You seriously lose a toe digit? Did they reattach it the right way?

It's back on. Severed at about the bottom of the toenail, so about an inch of it. Broke the bone too.

It's still bleeding pretty good, I'm airing it out right now and replacing the bandages. It's no where near as bad as when it happened though. Lotta blood.

Walking is possible but I have to hobble on my heel, can't put any weight on the toe at all obviously. Should be about two weeks before it's actually re-attached and I get the stitches taken out. About a month before it's back to normal and I can walk easily on it.

I tried to get them to put a Titanium pin in the bone but the doc said it wasn't necessary. I've been aching to get something replaced with Titanium for a while now.

Damn dude! I've come close to losing an index finger to a bandsaw, but it's not something I ever want to go through. I did chop off a finger tip with an R/C prop, but no stitches needed for that.

I hope you heal quickly and without infection or other complications.

I'm almost 35, so Dave, you must have started very very early.
You're not 40 yet so I guess you were 3 or 4 years old max, first time you hit the slopes...
Remember, your folks accidently dropping you in the snow doesn't count (although it would explain a lot... )

FRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

Lemme settle this with some hot chicks!!!!

Good morning guys!

I guess you're more into those terminator movies than I thought...
Hope you heal soon, man and be more careful next time.
Driving yourself to the hospital with a severed toe while hammered.... not something you want to do every day

No green needed. My parents put me on skies at 2. I've been skiing ever since. Even spent some time racing. I just don't get to the slopes as much as D anymore.

I may be headed to Germany mid June. Any chance you and Stijn can come up to Bremen if I do?

Bremen is a long drive. 400 clicks for me, almost 600 clicks for Stijn.
But I'm not saying that is impossible.
What are you doing then?? Skiing??

Visiting family. My mom is thinking about going to a school reunion in her home town. We had talked about a mother/son trip to Germany again, visit her home town - It's in the boonies and my grandparents have passed many years ago, so I don't get out there much. Bremen is where may aunt, uncle and cousin live, Lilienthal actually.
