I can testify that it is a PAIN IN THE BUTT to remove the seats on a 1985 911 Carrera.
The stupid 4 way switch is now just a one way switch. It can only go up. Lotsa contact cleaner will make it work for a few minutes. I guess it is time to replace the switch.

Take it apart. I did that for my side mirror switch, cleaned it all real good and it's been working for at least 5 years now.

I could have helped pull the seat and switch out... The seats are pretty much identical....

As long as you weren't referring to your mad skilz of maintaining a broken switch.

I did not attack the seat & switch until late this afternoon. The wife had me slaving in the back yard for several hours. We got a lot done.
I had one of the seat bolts that was VERY stubborn. I had to get medieval on it. It did finally yield to my will. I will try another round of contact cleaner on the switch tomorrow. I will put the seat back in tomorrow but that is not that hard now that the bolts are broken loose. I will likely order a new 4 way switch as a real fix.

The Stick

I've ALWAYS had to replace my Porsche seat switches. Cleaning only lasted a short time. Used switches from Oklahoma Foreign only lasted a short time (usually longer than the cleaning). But in the end I got tired of messing with it and put in a new one. Now I don't even bother with anything but spraying with contact cleaner for it to work temporarily until I get a new one.

It's amazing what some consider "a perfect week" and "wonderful life". Her schedule sounds completely self-un-satisfying and boring. If the best week I could have consisted of such, I would shoot myself. Different strokes I guess. This is why I will never have children. Or a happy relationship.

Definitely doesn't sound like my kind of fun either... All of it sounds like the kind of things that you work you ass off for, and still get ripped by someone b/c they aren't happy. I'm young and I've already learned that when dealing with leagues and such, there is no winning.
So, with the not getting an interview, I have pretty much decided to take some time to figure out WTF I am doing with my life. I have a job pretty much lined up for the end of the summer/fall. I am going to put in my resignation Monday, give them till the end of this month to find a replacement. I have no plans for May, June I will be gone for several weeks backpacking, and nothing yet in July. Looks like I will finally get to work on that car Mike sold me... |
