Yep !

Rick V 11-29-2009 07:56 AM

Morning again Ya'll

svandamme 11-29-2009 08:38 AM

shower drain : done.

not pretty, but it works.
Since i'm routing the drain of the shower on upper floor, to area where there's now a bath tub... i had to fab something up so the shower now drains into the bathtub... I'll redo that last bit once the shower is finished, and the tub is removed.

Next, brick up the shower tub, tile it, finish the roof, take my first shower and hope my kitchen doesn't flood (it's under the room where the shower is )

svandamme 11-29-2009 09:16 AM

I can imagine there are strict family's and communities.
But i can't imagine that there would be a law against dancing. That's just beyond my comprehension.

What do they do when they catch somebody dancing? fine?
repeat offenders? jail?
how do they legally define "dancing"

"Aah, yes your Honour, i saw the defendant in his house, and i distinctly saw him tapping with his right foot, to the tune of Frank Sinatra.. It was horrible, i'm still in shock to this day"

I know in Holland, up north they have a couple of areas where they have strict reformist towns... Where they don't allow stores to be open on sunday. The entire town goes to bible class several evenings a week.. several church visits a week...the works.
Where they are so strict and centered around the church, that the only TV in town, is the one owned by the preacher
(because he has to watch TV so he knows what to complain about on TV, and what TV networks to spam with angry "this is filth" letters...

And you can buy a house and move there, but most that do , regret it, because if they see them move in with a TV, and don't show up at church,
they are basically frowned upon vigorously by everybody in town.. I mean they will frown 24/7, even in their sleep, even when it means they get facial cramps...and wrinkles.

Imagine me moving there... They would need to frown like they never frowned before...

Rick V 11-29-2009 09:32 AM

Well that was fun, on my way back home the left front speaker in the truck shorted out against the door. I simply love re-wiring things that I should have done in the first place instead of using the factory harness

GH85Carrera 11-29-2009 12:37 PM

There is a town totally surrounded by the metro OKC area called Bethany. It is the home of Bethany Nazarene College. Until the late 70s there was no store in town that sold cigarettes. They did not get a liquor store until the late 90s. Only tax dollars convinced them to allow the sale of booze and cigarettes. Folks could drive just a couple of miles and get what they wanted. When 98% of the population is in the same church they pass the laws the way they want.

Dancing in ones own home was never illegal, just public dancing. A school dance was just not going to happen. If a boy and a girl danced in public the entire town might be dammed to hell. It is crazy but no more than most other religions. I don't want this thread moved to PARF so I stop at that.

porsche4life 11-29-2009 02:53 PM

Hey Schumi how did it turn out for you last night?

G'day lads! I'm back. tired in several different ways. nice trip, really.

and the wife knows, she thinks it's actually "our" 930. just don't tell her!

she's been talking about even driving it and I'm like "hm, I dunno about that..."

We actually stumbled across a 911 parked in the street in Bergen. first time I've seen one live since I started this whole project. kinda cool. it was badged "Carrera" on the decklid - does that make it a mid 80's? it was definitely of that era, not the 993 or whatever came after 89. surprised me how small it was.

pics tomorrow. off to bed.

Rick V 11-29-2009 03:59 PM

Hey Jeff, yes they are actually that small. And I am 6-4. I had to move the steering wheel and lower the seats.

porsche4life 11-29-2009 08:08 PM

Yo Schumi!

You never have posted an outcome...

Schumi 11-29-2009 09:00 PM

It's complicated.

But in a nutshell, things aren't progressing.

The good news is they aren't regressing.

porsche4life 11-29-2009 09:06 PM

Hmm.... Sounds like you need to apply some of your own tactics and move things along...

Schumi 11-29-2009 09:27 PM

I have a bit too much respect for this one to go about this my usual ways.

porsche4life 11-29-2009 09:30 PM

WHOA!

Is Schumi developing a heart?

Turboo934 11-29-2009 09:36 PM

Just bought the acre on the east side of my property today. I don't have to worry about someone building next to me now.Why is it that people will build as close as they can to their neighbors ? I'll have the parts tomorrow to finish Cristine's motor, going to be a good week, and I'll be 58 on the 6th.:D:cool:

Geronimo '74 11-29-2009 09:59 PM

Are you in town or on the outskirts? Surprised you have any money left for parts after buying land in Taos ....

svandamme 11-29-2009 10:13 PM

bon jour

the_webbster 11-29-2009 10:53 PM

bonjour Stijn and the rest of you.

-5C this morning. it's starting to look like winter here but not much snow yet. Had to get up and get the fire going so the missus won't freeze when she gets up.

waiting for the word on the house we put an offer in on up in Sweden. we're hoping to be in for christmas so the agent better get his finger out!

porsche4life 11-29-2009 11:06 PM

Thought you were building new?

Schumi 11-29-2009 11:09 PM

3C here.

I'm not a fan of winter. I need to learn to snowboard better.

porsche4life 11-29-2009 11:16 PM

It's like 35f here. I'm too lazy to do the math.

slodave 11-29-2009 11:17 PM

17C here.

Turboo934 11-29-2009 11:19 PM

I live 5 miles from town to the west, off of Blueberry Hill. Don't know why they call it that, haven't seen a single blueberry bush up there.

Ah, Sid - good to see you are paying attention! (no green, not sarcasm!)

We WERE going to build, but that was last week!! we changed our mind when we saw the lot.

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259565234.jpg

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259565300.jpg

I personally don't think its that bad, especially now that I see the photos again. but the house/cabin we want to build won't go on that lot - bottom line. biggest problem, as you will see in the first pic (maybe) are the powerlines that go right over my truck there. that's the lower lot boundry and means that we are not allowed to build on a good section of the lot. There's also quite a bit of noise from the highway, which you can't see in the photo.

So we sort of went back to the old house in town we were looking at originally. put another offer in on Saturday. it needs a lot of work so there's a limit to how much we want to pay for it. it is really centrally located though and did I mention 3GARAGES?? definitely place for the 930 to hide out during the long scandinavian winters.

the_webbster 11-29-2009 11:28 PM

35F = 1.6C = Cold

>:: World Wide Metric ::<

kind of an old school website but it works all the same.

porsche4life 11-30-2009 12:25 AM

I can't sleep. It's down to 0c and heading -2c.

Found how to check it in my phone.

Never been out in that side of town. Looks like you have a perfect view though. I mean my folks have a decent view for around here. But the weather up there is much better.

Rick V 11-30-2009 01:03 AM

morning Ya'll

the_webbster 11-30-2009 01:10 AM

morning Rick.

when you get up, that's when I know I should be doing something more than drinking coffee.

slodave 11-30-2009 01:13 AM

Morning Rick.

Rick V 11-30-2009 01:16 AM

okay it is 8c here, and I just grabbed my first cup of coffee. :) not bad for an old man huh?

the_webbster 11-30-2009 01:18 AM

yeah. and who says wisdom comes with age!?

snooping around on ebay, found this beauty:

Porsche : 930:eBay Motors (item 150393312644 end time Dec-09-09 17:00:00 PST)

especially liked the rims.

Rick V 11-30-2009 01:23 AM

Ya wanna buy a set of rims like that?
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1259572981.jpg

slodave 11-30-2009 01:30 AM

Good ol' Cali cars... Nice. Turbo's R fun!

the_webbster 11-30-2009 02:40 AM

last thing I need is another set of rims. but they're nice!

That's Lanna I'm assuming?

That is one saweet ride...
Turbo version of my car, but in much better condition.

Jeff, stop looking around, you'll only find better cars than the one you bought.
It's always like that

the_webbster 11-30-2009 03:09 AM

well, I can't import a car newer than 1980 anyways. if I did it would be a 2004 or something like that which you can get for the same price.

I'm looking for my next project through. two things on my list: a real clean, original california/Florida late 70's 911 which I should be able to get for around $15K and a 73 RS clone, which will be a bit more of a project. the 911 is something I'm sure I could do really well on as an investment. I saw one sell here a month or so ago that was really nice.

Porsche : 911:eBay Motors (item 160382222025 end time Dec-04-09 17:49:22 PST)

Seems like the wing is just all wrong on that car, or is it just me? interior as well?

So, you have a girlfreind right?, and you NEVER look at other girls? at least my 930 won't get jealous!

Just got a call from the real estate agent. the other buyers are stalling at our first bid. bad news for them 'cause we are prepared to go WAY higher if needed. Agent is trying to get in touch with the seller to close the deal (he will of course drag it out as long as possible). he thinKs we should be able to get it done today! if we get it for the price we are at now, there'll be lots left for the renovations.

and maybe another p-car:D

j.

Rick V 11-30-2009 03:38 AM

Okay wild man, lets get the 930 there and sorted before you jump into another one. Ya gotta bond with one car before you go running to another.
And Yup that is Lanna

the_webbster 11-30-2009 03:45 AM

I'm a wild man!!
