I went to Sam's at lunch time. $1.23 for lunch is hard to beat.

I went because they have a better fresh fruit supply than the local grocery stores. So I bought my fruit supply, and went to check out. They have about 8 self serve spots, and two with humans there and no line. So I push the cart into place and hand her my membership card. Of course they ask the standard "did you find everything" and I gave her my standard, no, I could not find the half price gold bars. She at least understood it was a joke and said they are aisle 1313 normally but they are back ordered again. So she had some sense of humor.

She scanned the card, and then started scanning the fruit. It just bleeped, and no price after twice over the register scanner. So she grabbed the hand held scanner and it just bleeped. She started looking for other bar codes anywhere and there was only the one. I joked that after three failures it means it must be free. She at least smiled but said no, I don't think so.

She whipped out her cell phone and looked it up, and said "what"? Then she realized for whatever reason my card did not scan right. So she scanned it again, all was well, and we were back in business. One reason I to use a human is I can just hand her a blank check, and it imprints it and she hands it back to me. So she inserted the check and then asked "full amount"? so I said "half off" and she did smile a little bit. So I said 10% off? and she just looked at me so I said just purchase amount. I did not need any cash back.

She did say I was full it it today, and I told her I always am.

Taking care of Mom really messed up my sleeping schedule. That's why Pepper is trained to wake me up when the blood sugar gets low.

Got a picture from my last colonoscopy to prove I was empty.

Asked if he could give me a copy of the movie of traveling through the colon. He said the file would be too big to fit on a thumb drive.

The oil we use in our Cessna 182T is the Phillips Aviation X/C 20/50 and the local source moved to a Stroud, OK. That is 50 miles up the turnpike or I can take Rt-66 and go slow. The good news is they deliver to the city. The bad news is just once per week delivery to this area.

Why in the world would you use a check when you can use a CC and get points towards one thing or another?

I have two credit cards that earn cash back. One for business, one for personal use. I understand the concept. It was just 26 bucks worth of fruit. So I would have made a few cents. For years Sam's did not take credit cards and I got into the habit of checks for them. I use checks for only a few things, and my account is free and the checks are cheap.

For the day to day stuff it is easy to just pay with a check or debit card, and then download it to my Quicken account. The credit card would have to be posted, and then it pays statement balance automatically, but I would have to click my mouse several extra times and I don't want to exhaust my finger.

So really no reason other than it did not matter enough money to bother with.

They are great for a few things. I had to get a new sticker for the year for the 911. If I use a CC or Debit card, they charge a "convenience" fee. A check was $21.50 and done.

At my dentists office, he does not take credit cards. Check or cash. At my stylist (haircut) I write a check to be 100% sure she is paying taxes like I do.

Two of my favorite (top 10) only take cash or checks, no credit cards at all. One ins Ann's Chicken Fry on Rt-66 and always packed, one is Eischein's in Okarche. Eischen's is the oldest bar in Oklahoma, and has great fried chicken and more business than they can handle. Neither are "health food" places, but they serve great food.

I don't doubt some of my use of checks comes back to running a business. My CPA and the IRS in particular really hate cash purchases for a business. The IRS auditor brought up the purchase of the Canon 5D system we bought for the company, It was a Craigs list purchase from some guy we don't know. We met at a bank, and handed him a big stack of cash. He saw no reason to sign a receipt for us. He did have the original receipt from the store where he bought it so we know it was not stolen.

We explained to the IRS auditor we bought a one generation old top pro camera system for 30% of the full new price and have a great camera for oblique aerials. She accepted that and we moved on. We ended up with no change to our taxes. The camera was just one item that flagged us for audit. Business to business, use a check or electronic transfer.

I have paid taxes since I was 16. So far I have never received one cent in federal money for any program or incentive. I just pay and pay and pay. When I write a check to the IRS for more than I paid for all of my first cars combined, I tend to feel abused.

When we had a Sam's membership it was a check or American Express. We did not have American Express. It sucked to have to remember to take a check. I understand they take all CC's now.

I paid tax on my hair stylist, a clippers.

We took our female dachshund to the vet today to have her teeth cleaned, and two fatty tumors removed from her side. Our male has had her around all of his life, and they are totally best buddies.

I could not feed her this morning, and I knew it was not fair to feed him and not her, so both of them just though I was really stupid this morning. As soon as my wife left with the dog, I fed him.

Our male, Reuben has been moping around all day. It is obvious he really misses her. We went in the back yard and he came out for a few minutes and just went back in through the doggie door and slept behind the couch.

The female will be ready to pickup at 3:00 PM. They will cheer them both up.

afternoon all. finally caught break in the process of plotting drawings for a project I'm no involved in. Sucks to be the one who just looks at a drawing and knows its wrong. Because of that I get all the last minute project print sets to do.

That sounds like it is time to get a raise, or maybe get a bad headache and have to go home.

My wife returned with our female dachshund. The male is happy again. He had not wagged his tail all day. He is normally a super happy boy and his tail wags all the time. His entire butt wiggles back and forth with his tail. All day today he was depressed. They are both happy she is back. And so are we.

That is interesting. Our Boston terror had known the lab from day one in our house. She has shown no sign of missing him.

Some days it sucks to be good at your job.
