Cayenne S Titanium Edition is shipping from Harrisburg, PA.

Looks like it is raining for about 1/2 the trip. Pretty much just straight across the USA from PA to OK.
Hope that rain doesn't turn into ice and snow.

Well, they are supposed to be here tomorrow. But who knows.

It does get windy in Oklahoma. We went to breakfast this morning, and at the restaurant all three of the plants had blown out of the pots.

I can come put it in your garage if you need. I was asleep by 10:30 as usual last night.

Did they drop it at your house?

That truck driver must have driven straight through non stop to get it to you so fast. It just certifies my theory of delivery of objects you don't really need get there fast. Hopefully you will get cleared to drive soon.

I just hope I have more parts for my computer show up today. I want to get it built and done.

The case for the new computer is HUGE. Of course it will likely have two video cards, 5 spining hard drives, one 3.5 inch SSD, and two M.2_1 Socket 3 with M key and 256 gig of RAM. I will likely use 4 or maybe 5 fans. There case has two fan speed control knobs right on the face of it, so I can crank up the fans to turbo blow if I want to. Of course the motherboard knows the temps and can raise or lower the speed as needed.

Cayenne was transported on an 85' semi. Wouldn't fit in the hood. Unloaded it in that church parking lot on Memorial.

Now gots to take it to the tag agency so they can inspect it to get the title mailed to me.

What can the collective tell me about Apple TV? is it a screen or a box I can attach to my existing TV?

It is a box. It needs electricity, and a connection to your TV. Assuming your TV is not several years old, it should connect easily. It just adds the Apple collection of movies that you can pay to watch, and it makes it really easy to display the photos or videos on your iPhone on the TV. Just like the old days of going to someones house to see the home movies or slide show of their vacation. You can bore the hell out of your friends. It is neat for family that want to see the photos at the same time, and not have to pass around a little phone.

We have a Generation 1 Apple TV.

Our just uses a HDMI cable. You will have to check the specs on the new Apple TV, they may have gore to Display port, or mini display port. And make sure the TV has the same connection. You can get cables that go from Display port to HDMI or whatever you need.

I am sure the web sites list the types of cable needed. It will just plug into one of the inputs on your TV, so take a look at what types of inputs your TV has open, and that is 1/2 the battle. THen see if the Apple TV is listed with that type of output. Then get a cable of the appropriate length, if the Apple TV does not come with it. Ours is over 5 years old, and they have several versions since we bought it.

I opened up the case on my monster new computer. It has three HUGE fans and room to add more standard size fans. It has the room for 6 standard 3.5 inch drives, and 6 - 5 inch drives. So lots of room for all I am going to cram in there.

AppleTV -
Have it on ethernet wired network and connected to TV with HDMI. TV is 9 year old 65" Sony Bravia. TV sound outputs to my Sony receiver for surround sound. My AppleTV is 1080P not 2K, but so is my TV.

Cut the cord for two reasons. I am cheap and too many remotes. Purchased an app that installs and updates KODI on AppleTV and have exodus remix add-in to watch network TV and movies. Very few shows/movies have not found. Spend most of my TV time watching the AppleTV's built in Youtube player. Have an antenna on the TV, but never watch it because all the commercials put me to sleep. Considered a box for $99 that feeds over the air Antenna thru home network to an AppleTV app, but hooked up the TV's antenna and it had way to many commercials. So didn't bother.

Really like using just one remote. The AppleTV remote controls everything. When I had Cable it took 3 remotes. It is convenient sleeping and waking the AppleTV and it also sleeps/wakes the TV/receiver. Have not got into the games or apps or even Siri.

Can stream or mirror iPhone, iPad, or Macbook thru the AppleTV to the TV. It also accesses itunes libraries/iCloud.

You can rent/buy movies and tv shows in the TV app with appleID account. Same prices as cable's on-demand. Same with games, apps, and music. With the AppleTV anything you rent/buy you can watch on any Apple device.

Weeee what fun.

I "got" to drive all the way out to the airport where we keep our airplane, the drive our contractor pilot back to the electronic shop at Wiley Post airport. We had the full ADSB installed last week. OUCH.

Gotta do it before the end of the year to fly close to any big city with Class A or B controlled airspace. And that means most of the country. So that is done.

The pilot flew back, and did a test run by in controlled airspace to make sure the magic little box is doing its thing.

Cool, my parts just arrived!

Drove the Cayenne .4 miles home last night. It had a FWD System Fault. Noticed the battery was a little low so put it on a charger over night. This morning battery all topped off and the FWD System Fault is gone.

Went to mount the tag...3 of the 4 bolts to hold the tag on are broke off in the holes.

Also smelled gasoline in my garage. Luckily there is a recall that is supposed to fix the gas odor. Got an appointment at the dealership Monday to fix the gas odor and the tag mounts.

Also don't like the stereo install. They didn't hook up the steering wheel buttons. It has android cables, and there are speakers mounted on the a pillars and a kicker sub box and two amps taking up the rear floor. It has stock places to put speakers, subs, and amps dern it.

Well, I am making progress on the computer. The attached photo shows all 256 Gig of the memory in place, the 5 spinning drives in the front for the RAID5 and the arrows are pointing to the two V-NAND SSD 2 Gigabyte 970 EVOPlusNVMe M.2 Socket 3 (dang what a long ridiculous long name) solid state drives. There is space for a third M.2 drive that I may add later. I will use one as the boot drive, and the other as the "work" drive. Once a project is done, it will get moved to the RAID. The bottom arrow points to the one that is installed, the other one is uncovered for a few minutes more.

I still have to get the DVD burner and the USB and multi memory card reader in the front. Add in the video card, and lots of other cables and thermal sensors. There is a little add on card that comes with the motherboard for fan control, and I don't know if I will add in the wireless WiFi or not. With the computer 5 feet from the router, the Cat 6 cable will bring in all the network speed it can handle.

The packaging they ship the parts in is nuts. They have the motherboard in a box that I bet cost 10 bucks or more. Very fancy, and the power supply has a neat little bag for the cables. The hard drives were the opposite, just a big bubble wrap around each drive and nothing else. Same for the DVD burner, just bare.

The motherboard does come with one gizmo that I will not install. It has a little bracket thing that glues to the top of the monitor and adds a video camera, microphone, and audio controller. It might be great for gaming, but it ain't going on my computer.

The CPU cooler is a real mousetrap contraption. It looks well engineered, and it has four little rubber mounts for vibration reduction and to make it quieter. Then a spring gizmo that hold it tight.

The M.2 hard drives fit under a metal panel, with double sided tape to hold it tight, and transfer heat. The one on top still needs to have the tape stuck on, and be put in position, and the screws tightened.

Once I get this computer up and stable and software installed, I will transfer the software from my current machine to this new one. Then add the video card in my current computer to the big machine, and make my old computer nothing but a RAID 5 computer.

It's been at least 10 years since I've had a computer that wasn't basically a laptop.

Do remember when Mac towers had liquid cooling to keep from having fan noise.
