We use Skype for business and MS Teams. I have used Zoom for a weekly trivia thing a coworker hosts online now that he can't do it in the bar.

We have test meeting set for 1:00 PM today. If that works as expected we can all get together tomorrow evening.

One of the local universities had a zoom meeting for the graduation or something. Someone "hacked" into it and took over and started with nazi and racists BS. I don't foresee that as a an issue for us.

The host needs to set up the meeting with a password. Makes it a bit harder to hack in.

Yep.

The news media made it sound like some sophisticated hack. I bet it was just an open meeting and the link was passed around to many people and no password was used.

I suspect that is the real cause. Really bad humor and stupidity.

The host can also set it up to have people wait for the host to accept them in also.

The Zoom meeting test went well. When I first set up the laptop I turned off the microphone and video camera for everything. Zoom wanted me to turn that on from the start and that worked fine. But the microphone was off. So I went to settings and turned it on and all is fine.

That was my first home video conference outside of using my iPhone.

With 10 or 12 people the faces would be microscopic. Of course I know what they look like, but it just seems the Surface laptop was made for that type of thing.

It is almost up to 52 degrees today. I thought it was spring but I guess the weather decided for cold weather to hang on longer. Tomorrow is supposed to be 80 and thunderstorms. That is the main reason I was not going anywhere in my car tomorrow night.

Good day group.

Slept in today since on furlough. Would rather be working. This is the first time I have not been technically employed for 40 years today.

Did my instacart shopping last night, they delivered it a couple of hours ago. It is cheaper if you turn in the order the night before and have it delivered anytime the next day. No complaints about the fruits and veggies the shopper picks for me yet.

For zoom and teams meetings I set a background of my 928. Did the same with my picture if the camera is turned off. Streams much better (lower bandwidth) if only the person talking has their camera and mic on. It is pretty easy to toggle the mic to make a comment. People tend to NOT make comments and not much interaction if there are over 5 people in the meeting. Seems to be human nature. If it were me... I would email the content of the meeting, use the meeting to discuss it not read thru it, then email the content again including any changes made in the meeting. Think that woulld make meetings much shorter and end up with thing being more of a collaborative effort.

Had to help my bro setup zoom on his laptop for some church and org board meetings. He is not real computer literate. One of those people that only closes documents but leaves the apps running, then wonders why he runs out of memory. Put an app on that shuts down apps when you close the last document, but he keeps disabling it.

Other brother is even worse at computers. Has been piggybacking on a neighbors wifi. He paid them and found he could get internet himself just as cheap. It changed his wifi network and he has be 2 weeks getting his HP printer to change networks. He pays HP to manage his printer, even send him paper. It is way cheaper to buy your own paper and ink. For someone on a limited fixed inclome he sure spends a lot. Think he is one of those people that thinks he needs to print a copy of everything on his computer. Personnally have spent less printing in 19 years, on my 2nd color laser printer/scanner and first box of paper. And I printed several mailings for the local PCA.

He tells me he wants to use his stimulus check to fix his Honda Odessy he wrecked. Both our other brother and myself have told him to have the Honda towed and sold for scrap and find something else. He does not understand that bodywork, transmission, battery, and brakes cost more than the odessy is worth and you can find working vehicles for under $1000 if you look and are patient. I got a 12K Cayenne for just 6K shipped. Then only spent 1.5K fixing the issues, and that was at dealership prices.

Oh boy, Tomorrow morning I get to go do a heart stress test to get my heart docs okay for a colonoscopy. Haven't done a stress test before. Was told it takes 3.5 hours. Get tired pretty easy since the car wreck despite doing PT stuff every other day. More disappointed that my balance isn't getting any better. Was hoping some brain plasticity would kick in and it would get better by now.

When woke up at noon had to turn on the heat instead of AC. Had gotten down to 66°F inside and felt a bit chilly. Sure was good sleeping though.

Wow, the humidity is back down to "only" 99% and the temperature is still 53. Yesterday we tied a 100+ year old record for the coldest high temp of the day. This is San Fransisco weather.

Today some of the unstable air from baja Oklahoma comes up and things warm up to 80 and with all the moisture really fire up some good thunderstorms.

I was watching yet another car show where they were updating a vehicle with modern drive train. The dropped in a LS engine and transmission and needed to update rear end to a 9 inch and change to disk brakes. I always wish they mentioned a price range for the parts. They showed the Heidts brand name so I figured I would google them and look at prices.

They don't have a system for the El Camino specifically but they do have a G-body solution. Only 5 grand! Wow, no thanks. Not that I thought I needed it. My Elky rear end is working fine.

It is like looking at the Willwood brake conversions. Dang they are pricey. I will stay with stock.

I have Wilwood masters but the brakes are form Master Power. They have done well but are nothing fancy. I moved to them because I melted a set of pads that came with the car one day coming down from Julian CA. Same trip with modern brakes I never had an issue.

One reason I set it up for my Surface is the camera is at the top of the screen, and I don't have to hold it at all. With my phone I can prop it up in landscape mode, but the camera would be just a few inches off the desktop. Everyone would see the view up my nose and that is a horrible view. I can set my laptop on a box and have it at eye level, and a more comfortable view for me to look at.

Not to sure about their stress test. Got more out of breath going to and from the lab than doing the test.

I think the stress is the anticipation of going and getting there.

Must be why the medical buildings have so many hallways going everywhere in all different directions.

One of our customers at the photolab was Baptist hospital photo department. The photographers office was in the bowels of the building. The parking is always a nightmare at any busy hospital, and this place was really bad. We had permission to park at the loading dock and then it was a long walk down a hall to get to the elevators. Then a really crazy zig zag route through buildings that were never designed to be connected but were connected anyway. It was like a rats maze. We did very few deliveries, and only for large regular clients. I showed the route to one of the other guys and he never did get it right on the first try.

At the Hershey, PA parade I stayed at the Hershey convention center & hotel. It too had been expanded many times of the years. It was a crazy route to get to my room from the lobby where the parking lot was. The worst was the hotel in St. Charles, IL. All the parking was in front so I had to go in through the lobby, down a long hall past the indoor pool, down another hall with restaurants, past the shopping mall, down another long hall to the elevator.
