They frown on us taking naps at work, but it is better than napping during the commute.

Same here except a 5 to 6 MPH breeze. It is 69 and clear skies.

We had 40-45mph winds over the weekend, mostly in the middle of the night and 25mph in the day. Sucked to be outside.

My brother in Oklahoma City has just 'celebrated' one week of no electricity (except for 3.5 hours on Thursday). Live near Nichols Hills.

They checked into a hotel yesterday, after throwing away hundreds of dollars worth of food.

Nichols Hills and Heritage Hills both were hit hard. Those areas had a lot of old tall trees and just demolished the infrastructure. My business partner just got power back last night. He lives about two miles from me.

The thing that is strange to me is I don't yet here the constant buzz of chainsaws. There is more work than can be done in weeks, and I guess they are working on the other areas. Our "guy" is supposed to be here tomorrow. He is doing the emergency stuff first. Our stuff is just to get it done and safe.

My helper still does not have power. She lives off 23rd in Bethany.

Her husband's grandmother died of Covid last week in small town oklahoma. no funeral homes will handle the body. They told them to call the government.

Still no sound of chain saws around here. I know the tree guys are slammed with business. The 1,500 square mile metro area has damage to 90% of the trees. Our house has had as many 9 trees. Three are already gone forever and several have been replaced with different trees. Two trees were removed and turned into a flower garden. The big pear tree in the back was next to the koi pond and dropped too much debris into the koi pond so it was not replaced at all, just different flowers that like sun.

I am betting it will be after the first of the year before the tree debris is hauled off by the city. We are careful to keep the tree limbs away from our brick mailbox, and out of the street, and off the sidewalk. The neighbors across the street is almost funny how wrong they are doing it. He is an attorney for the state''s Attorney General's office. He is a smart man. They had tree limbs piled right up against the brick mailbox. Easy to damage with the big claw used to pick up the limbs. He has three bags of leaves, and the city will only pick up limbs, no bags. And he piled some around the fire hydrant, another no no. Oh well, maybe lawyers ain't so smart after all.

We are supposed to get to mid 70s, so that will be easy. Another day of pretty San Diego type weather.

It is funny in that so many people think humans just cut down trees and put up parking lots and buildings. This part of the world was mostly open grasslands the 1880s. After the land run, the ground was cut up into sections, and 1/4 sections and further 1/4s and 1/2s. In the 1940s and 1950s the aerial photos show few trees, and lots of open areas of farms and ranches.

Now the ground is covered with trees. Humans like trees. Except female cottonwood trees that shed cotton or many of the other messy trees. The Bradford Pear is popular with builders because they grow fast, and can look pretty. They have a bloom in the spring that flat stinks like cat pee, then they drop the flowers, and the husks of the buds, the pears are little pea size things that few birds will eat so they drop to the ground, and rot and make a sticky mess, and then the stems of the pears drop, then the leaves drop. They are a messy tree, and very brittle and wind or ice just eats them up. The birds that do eat the pears spread them like a weed.

The chainsaws rang out and our big Bradford Pear tree is stacked on the grass between the sidewalk and the curb, and so is the Fire-dragon Maple. Down to stumps. The Japanese Maple is just a stick. All that is left is the trunk and maybe it will come back. I will be surprised if it does, but it can't hurt to try.

I have an electric chain saw, but the last tree I cut down I used an ax. Butched it up with the chain saw though.

It was a big enough tree that the potential of property damage or worse yet, bodily injury was higher than the desire to chop it down myself. They had three guys, that have done this before. They did tie ropes to the higher up limbs and those were lowered to the ground. the final core of the tree was the last part to go. They picked up all the limbs and twigs and even the leaves. Just some sawdust and a stump left.

Had to repaint a couple cover plates that go over the tank strap bolts and bumper mounts. Should all be back in tonight then I can program the fuel gauge. Maybe take it for a last ride of the year.
