Get off my lawn!
|
Welp, the boss's wife had me slaving in the back yard again yesterday, and today she will let me mow the yard. We had to cut down the four Crape Myrtles that we have. They were all frozen last winter and will have to come up from the roots. So a 15 foot Crape Myrtle tree is now about an 1/2 inch tall like the others.
Then we put in 16 feet of metal edging at the bottom of the stockade fence to stop the bunny rabbit from getting in the back yard. Then we moved on to the exit of the French drains. It dumps out under the fence, and is washing out the dirt some there, so we put down the black cloth liner, and 5 bags of round river rocks. Those bags are heavy. After I mow, I get to build a cage for some shading material for the baby Japanese Maple that had the giant tree fall on it.

Morning all. Had a nice weekend that included getting the 911 out for a spring fling with the local roads. As Glen says my face is broken from all the smiles.

The yard is mowed. Task one done. This afternoon we are building a little 1/2 PVC cage around the Japanese Maple to drape some shade making material over the thing since it can't withstand Oklahoma summer temperatures. Assuming we will ever get to spring, much less Summer. Yesterday and today are nice spring like days. Tonight the dang Canadians are sending down unwelcome COLD air. We are supposed to have a freeze tomorrow night. This is like last year, we can't get out of the winter cycle. We never warmed up to normal last year until late May.

good morning all.
I forgot I had to replace some 20+ year old blinds in the house yesterday. Not to hard, you have to take the old ones down along with their mounting brackets and put up new brackets. At least the new brackets use the exact same holes.

David, obviously you used the wrong blinds. The mounts are supposed to be 100% incompatible with the old ones and necessitating filling the old holes, and repaint the walls, then putting in the new blinds. You just did it all wrong
![]() We built a 1/2 PVC box for the Japanese Maple tree. It is only 2.5 feet tall so calling it a tree is stretching the truth a bit. Anyway now we built a little house for the tree, and true tree house. Right now it is just the cube od 1.2 inch pipe with double elbows making the ends all into a nice cube. Next up is a tarp of something for tonight when we are supposed to break a new record low of 32 degrees. We will be doing lots of plant coverings today. The kitchen will indeed look like a jungle again.

Yea, but think of all the extra fun you missed!
When I was ready to sell my old house I knew a bathroom remodel was in order to help it sell. So I pulled out the old pink toilet to replace it with a modern toilet. Then I found the old LEAD toilet mount had been leaking into the subfloor. So out came the tile floor to see how far the rot was. I had to hire a plumber to replace the old lead sewer pipe and haul it off. Several plumbers just hung up on me when I told them I had lead drains. It was a total snowball effect. After a few days I was standing on just the floor joists, no subfloor or floor. and bare studs on the walls. So new tub-shower new tile walls, and lavatory and toilet. At least it was not a pink and green bathroom anymore. I never got to use the new shower. After I had trashed the pink toilet and bathtub I found out the local gays guys really look for the pink toilets and bathtubs and pay big bucks for them. Of course I had to pay to get mine hauled off.

Wow, we just got the go on a nice project. The client put down the targets for us to find in the image, and assign the coordinates provided by the client. That will pin the images down super accurate. There are 50 targets on a large area. It looks like they put down a triangle, and the survey point pin is in one corner of the triangle. I have no idea how we are supposed to know what corner of the triangle and a pin or a nail in the point of one corner. What point of the triangle do we pick? We will never be able to see a freaking nail head that is painted the same color as the border of the triangle. I may go nuts trying to do this one.

They said they spray painted some text under the south end of each triangle, so we might have a clue as to what end is north and south. The issue is the camera system is physically two different camera bodies. So each click is actually two images, and the camera points in two different areas, and with different orientation. When I am "zooming" in to find the target in each image, I can't really tell which way is up. The computer just takes all the data of the GPS, the two IMUs and the knows what way is north. It will rotate the image to fit where it needs to be, and make a mosaic of thousands of images. This project is going to be extra fun in that we will fly it with two camera systems. Out old tried and true camera system and a new prototype system. We know for certain the old system works. The new one will have it's first real world test and it should go head to head with camera systems on the market from the big boys that cost a million bucks or more.
Happy birthday Sidney!

![]() This is one of their little tiny targets. I think they said it was a whopping 18 inches per edge. We are flying a 3 inch pixel for the project. So just 6 pixels per side and we will have one hell of a time to find them at all. We will make it work, but it ain't gonna be easy.
