Morning all. well the power went out for a few hours. Not long enough to bother with the generator or worry about food. I had just pulled out of the garage when it went out so I had to detach the door from the rail and jamb it shut with a bar till later in the evening.

The Rockies tend to calm down those storms. The mountains will get lots of snow. I prefer that crap to stay up in the mountains.

I saw several people killed by falling trees up there. Trees are great when standing, but deadly when they fall over.

Winds don't have to spin to be deadly. Especially when the ground gets saturated with water.

Last month we had 50 MPH winds pretty much all day. I was downtown and going towards a parking garage. The winds were insane between the buildings. I had to lean forward at a steep angle, and hold mu hat in my hand to get to the garage. Skinny people would need to carry rocks in their pockets.

Good morning to everyone. Winter is finally starting to make its way into Lincoln, Nebraska. Got down to 26° last night. It’s been windy all week, but a nice sunny day out today. But cold! I’ve got a Dave Brubeck album on the turntable and I’m relaxing with a cup of coffee.

We had a light frost this morning, our first frost this year, but it is back to 59 already. Same for tomorrow. We had to bring the Plumeria inside to avoid the freezing weather. My wife cut a entire branch off of the Plumeria to help it balance better and she gave it to some friends that wanted it.

Tomorrow our Porsche Dealership is having a charity event for Thanksgiving. We can either bring a frozen turkey, or a toy that was on their wish list. I opted for a toy. Some Lego thing that makes a garden scene. We don't have room in our freezer for a turkey, and I don't want to goo get one tomorrow morning on the way as the closest grocery store is way out of the way.

One oof the former OU women's softball team members that now place professionally will be there to help promote it. All the stuff goes to the OU children's health center.

Phew. Mrs Carrera goes in Tuesday for shoulder surgery. Removing bone spurs, opening up some room for the shoulder ball, and cutting her bicep, and reattaching it higher up to give more room for movement.

3 months recovery is expected. So we cleaned her indoor cichlids aquarium. One of the chores I was allowed to do was replace a hose end that goes to the main filtration pump. It is a very weird non-intuitive connection that I had to figure out. Basically, I had to shove the outside rubber part down to the hilt, and then tighten a connection going backwards from what seemed right. It took a while, but I finally figured iit out.

Golly what fun it was. It is done for another 4 months.

Thanks. I know she is worried about it. They told her she would be out for 90 minutes or so as they grind and chop. She has a sling now that circulates ice water through the shoulder area. We put frozen bottles of in it, and then fill with water to a certain level, and switch it on. It even has a thermostat to control how cold the water is.

I am concerned as well of course, but she is going to a top level hospital and the surgeon does several of the same operations per day. His staff get her and the equipment ready, and he just does the surgery, and he had been doing it for a while. She gets physical therapy three times per week, and exercises to do at home.

She has to get all better in time for next spring's planting season!

She has to wash with a brand new bar of soap for the next two days, and no deodorant, and we have to wash the sheets every day. It seems overkill, to me, but we will listen too the doctor.

Since my wife will havee her left arm in a sling on Thanksgiving, we are doing our Thanksgiving today. Just took the turkey out of the oven. As in 30 minutes it will cool down and we can attack it with carving knife, and forks and de-bone it and put it all in a large metal pan. We will make a lot of mashed taters, and stuffing and the other fixings. And just have "leftovers" on Thanksgiving.

Her surgery is Tuesday, and I suspect she will not feel much like eating for a while. Maybe on Wednesday and Thursday.

I will be playing nurse a lot. I will be a nice nurse for a week, then turn into nurse Ratchet and make her go to PT and do her home exercises.

She bought a fancy shoulder ice water circulating gizmo. It is held in place with three Velcro elastic bands. We can put frozen bottles of of water in it, and a little water, and in seconds it gets COLD. It does have a timer and temp control remote control so she can regulate how cold, and how much time to spend with it in place over her shoulder.

We just did a test run and it seems to work well.
