I saw the dyno sheets you sent me, tried to save them as a JPG but it didn't work.
You're in for one helluva drive.... Nice to hear that you are prolonging your stay. I'd be glad to show you my project car.... Tha car is at my parent's house and the engine is scattered all over the place... lol

Still trying to decide on a laptop.
I've got two schools of thought- stupid cheap netbook -$<400 mildly more expensive but middle of the road laptop. ~$600. The laptop that is tempting me is the HP dm3z ultra portable. Bigger than a netbook so I won't get annoyed with it but still small and light, no cd-rom etc. Optioned out with 4GB of ram and dual core, 64 bit AMD processor and 320GB hard drive, the ready-to-ship version is a little over 600$ with tax. I haven't pulled the trigger yet though

The Vostro 1320 is the dell that looks closest to the HP that I want. It is much thicker however, weights a bit more, made of mostly plastic instead of aluminum, and has a lower resolution screen. It does however have a better processor and a DVD drive, whereas the HP doesn't have an optical drive and is more expensive (30$). The HP also has HDMI out, which is good as I'm sure I will be hooking it to a TV every now and then like I do with my current dell and it's S-video out. The HP also mas better integrated graphics (ATI I think over Intel) So I'd be paying 30$ for a computer with slightly less performance (probably not noticeable), less a DVD drive (not needed for the most part) yet looks a lot better and IMO is built with better materials (aluminum top with magnesium bottom). Old HP's were crap but I've been nothing but impressed with their new desktops and their new laptops feel solid... just like they are screwed together very tight with tight tolerances. My dell was making creaking plastic sounds within a few months of owning it. Flimsy.

Go back a few pages and find how far apart I had a less than 2yr old HP torn apart... That thing was CHEAP and plasticy.... They all seem to have the same power adapter issue.... If you don't like dell....
Toshiba makes a nice laptop. |

Every laptop manufacturer has ****ty power adapters... mainly the plug itself. They use a cheap connection allows the solder joints to fatigue easily. I've never seen a laptop with a real solid power connector except for the magnetic ones that Powerbooks use. I used to have both a Titanium powerbook and the later aluminum intel based powerbook... both solid machines.
I'm just not willing the pay the Mac tax, or settle for a cheap mac with inferior hardware. This HP i'm looking at is similar in performance to a Macbook air at 1/4th the price. The reason I had my last powerbook was because I got it through the university at a steal (normal price was around $1650, I got it discounted to $1000) ... but it was still $250 more than this dell I had just bought that, back then, was brand new still. I was going to just keep both, then felt dumb that I spent the money and ended up selling the powerbook on ebay for a $500 profit. Running windows, my dell was just as fast as the powerbook.

Good evening guys. I got a chance to check in. The surprise party for my dad was a 100% success. He was totally surprised.
It has been great visiting with my brother & sister-in-law. They are staying with us for the weekend.

Damn missed several chances to kill raccoons tonight. Couldn't get the gun out the window fast enough. Must have something to do with one hand being latched onto by Nikole. Oh and the old house we checked out... Good excuse to pull her in tight when something made her jump.

Morning guys,
Sunday lazy Sunday.... Schumi, weird about the hinges on the Dell. I use it as a laptop and it gets opened and closed all the time, never had a problem. I used to have a compac, which did have flimsy hinges.

Morning there Drive By, (I know I am not much better)
Okay I have too many projects going at one time. I blew an axle bearing on Peggy on wed, replaced those yesterday and looks like something else has let go as well. got me some vibration issues to track down, wonder-frigging-full. Beth's laptop has won, I gave up, I let PC Defender have it. Since she lost the restore disk, and it is a rather long story, I have copied all of her documents and such to the external and am putting Ubuntu on it. (it's an HP and a POS) but it will be reborn as the Porn-O-Matic 5000. She has a new lappy.

OMG I am so gonna blow this HP up. I installed Ubuntu and I can not get the wifi to fire up, I finally got the hardware to come back on line, but the software is just not going my way. I think I may just have to take this thing to a nerd. I am a geek.
