I've never had to reload iTunes. I have had to reload XP and Office on my PC several times to fix problems.

PC vs Mac vs Linux...its just a matter of familiarity and whatever you get used to.

My last hackintosh was always slightly buggy. Not something I want to deal with for my daily use laptop.

a laptop is a toy anyway. look at insanelymac.org. you will find a LIST of laptops that are fully compatible with osX, as in the same damn thing.

They aren't in the aluminum unibody..... A laptop is not a toy for me. I use mine for lots of school work.

And I suppose you are going to tell me another dell wouldn't be? My dell has been ok, but its on its second screen(going bad), the power cord on the supply has been replaced, the power port on the motherboard is haywire, and now it has a virus.....

why would you buy a dell? further, what does the virus have to do with the decision? you think the apple bendover machine is going to have a bullet proof power cord, screen, etc? have you looked at the recall stuff with the apple ****e?

The power cord problems are both things that are less of a problem on the magsafe. I realize it won't be bullet proof, but I bet it will be built better than a dell. The few macs I've gotten hands on time with have been much nicer...

i get it.

however, think about it like this: how much did you spend on your laptop toy? how much more desktop computing power could have been purchased with the same amount of cash? then, how much more upgradeable is the desktop than the laptop, especially in terms of cash outlay?

laptops are a toy. period.

Can you easily use your desktop in 4 places in the same day. I am on the move all the time, I have no use for a desktop...

Didn't pay for the laptop, short of a HD and mem upgrades a year ago....

My desktop was (still technically is) upstairs in my "office". Laptop was newer technology, so much faster and in a more central location downstairs.

Desktop finally was turned off and collected dust, perfectly happy with my laptop (okay, huge screen would be nice).... Linux server has issues, mess with it, but it's a goner -hardware, not worth fixing. Temp server in place, it to fails. Desktop to the rescue! Plug Linux drives in and voila! Server up and running as a temp fix until I get around to replacing the server.... It's been over a year now....

Laptop FTW!
