I was hoping to have them done late today. The darn program locked up last night at 8:45 so we lost 12 hours of process time. With luck they will be done tomorrow morning.

The compression part is amazing. We start with a 1.6 Gig tif file and shrink it down to a 95 MB file. It is a file format called Mr Sid. It is very common in the mapping world. We have to pay for every MB of compression with a software cartridge. The really amazing part is how well it works. You have to zoom way in to see any compression artifacts and they are minimal. Each of the original 1.6 Gig files takes 16 minutes to compress. 130 files is about 35 hours of CPU time.

Yea, but they will never make the 3,000 mile round trip.

And with no AC it would be kinda hot, in Savannah GA in August. It gonna be hot even with AC in my current 911.

Took the non-working A/C off my 911 and out it in a box. What I found to be funny was that it was held in with more bolts than the entire engine.

In WA you can live without AC without too much suffering. In this part of the world in ain't no fun. BTDT. My old 914 did not have AC. In August when we hit 100 degrees for a month straight and the morning "low" is 89 degrees AC becomes necessary. I love my AC in the 911. It makes it a car I can drive every month.

Last summer I drove to Bend and it was over 90 out. I hated it in traffic but on the road no big deal. Happyness is driving topless!!!!! Wait for it...........SLAP!!!! the wife hates that comment.

The A/C would have cost more to fix than I would get use out of it so now it lives in a box in the garage. I hope to repeat that drive and work out the fuel issue I had.

all right, porsche-poor, i ate the king oysters. they were damn good, actually. they have a very nice flavor. they are very hearty, almost like a mushroom steak. i think i need to cut them thinner than i did, as i only cut them lengthwise twice.

i also read that one only gets one flush from the king oysters. i wish i had known that when i started, i would have done things a little differently. that said, it sure looks like they are going to fruit again. when they do, i'll send you some. that one pan of mushrooms was probably close to pound, maybe more. they also have really good shelf life, so i think they will get to you in good shape.

i also have some yellow oysters coming on:
