iPhone was funded by private company, SR71 was funded by the govt.....

And besides, we already have an SR71, one issue we have with developing new planes, is they really pushed what physics will allow back then... We haven't figured out much new as far as the materials required to build craft like that or faster....

Yeah, but they could make it more accessible. Just like computers.

Just wishful thinking I know.

I saw a little bit of a show that talked about the SR-71 so I am kind of have a thing for it lately, that is all.

Technology aside, the year I was born was pretty dynamic.

Tet Offensive, King asssination, Kennedy II assination, My Lai, Prague Spring, Nixon...

Early years of a generation of music that has yet to be equaled.

That is more what my Dad is always talking about when he mentions 1968.

the sr-71 was developed way before the moon landing and all of that stuff. it was the a-12. as for iphones and that stuff. you can pretty much thank nasa for most of that technology, as well as every other techno-gadget we have today.

what's even crazier to think....the average age of an engineer on the apollo project was 26 years old.

as for aircraft technologies...rest assured...stuff is still being developed.

Well, aircraft have really long development cycles. True, the A-12 was around a long time before the SR-71.

Amazing that when they retired it we did not have any airplanes better. Then there was the "donuts on a rope" contrail and then the re-activation of the Blackbird, then the retirement later.

I am not sure if we do have jets with that performance or if everthing is satellites and UAVs now. No one cares if a UAV with no onboard memory storage gets shot down.

Boy we are getting close to victory now. I was getting worried that they would beat us to 40K but we will take that title.

100000+

Go into any hospital room or ER. All of the remote monitoring equipment came from NASA. Digital photography, and the entire process of making CPUs and IC boards came from NASA spending.

So many folks like Sammy think we are taking tons of cash up to space and dumping it. The billions we spent returned trillions to the economy of the USA and put us as the absolute clear leader in high technology. We have been pissing away that lead for years.

According to my oldest brother, Bob, the self-trained Extra-terrestrial Ambassador...

We got all that technology from Extra-Terrestrials and it had nothing to do with the space program. The links to the space program are just there to hide the extra-terrestrial involvement.

Of course, I think Stephen hawking is actually an alien and super strong. He stays motionless in the chair so no one notices his super strength and gets suspicious.....
