There are studies that show those that get 20% or more of their protein from meat have high blood pressure, cholesterol, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, cancer, etc. To reverse the adverse effects you have to reduce the animal protein to 5%.

The lower the animal protein percentage in your parents and grandparents diet the longer it takes for the animal protein to effect your health.

The "American" or Western Balanced Diet has too much animal protein.

I've been doing the meatless monday for 3-4 months now, it's not much , but i've managed to stick to it.
It's a start for this here carnivore. Maybe i'll manage to add a Meatless Thursday in the near future...

My older brother has Multiple Sclerosis and has gone full vegetarian plus to try to battle it. Besides not eating any meats, he also doesn't eat any dairy or nuts.

My other older brother lived next door to a lady that worked at a KFC, Kentucky Fried Chicken. She brought him the leftovers from the restaurant cause he loved it. He was eating KFC chicken basically 3 times a day. Had a heart attack requiring quadruple bypass after about a year. Don't think he eats KFC any more.

Don't worry Sid. My grand-dad worked at a meat packing plant for 45 years. It was the only place he ever worked. He had meat at every meal. It was not a meal if there there was not meat in his mind. His cholesterol was never above 180. My dad loves meat & dairy and and his cholesterol is never above 160. My cholesterol never goes above 170.

On the other side is my father in law. He was skinny, rode a bike an average of 200 miles a week, and made the commitment to eat low cholesterol food. His doctor did a one month test of no cholesterol meds. His shot up to over 600. Only modern drugs kept is levels low.

There is no history of high blood pressure, heart disease in the family. My dad will be 82 in a few weeks. He is fighting leukemia, but has made it 14 months past what the Dr. figured he would survive.

Moderation in all food is the main key. Easy to say had to do.

Those studies were on general populous. There are always exceptions, and in both directions.

My mom had 3 cousins that were brothers. One was a health nut, even back in the 40's. He ate a special whole foods type of diet and demanded his diet observed when he visited. He was an exercise freak also. His brothers both joked about his morning exercise regime. He died in his early 40's from a heart attack. His two brothers whom ate a typical farm diet most of their lives, not vegetarian, but lots of veggies and they didn't eat huge helpings of meats, both lived into their late 90's.

It is really all the dihydrogen monoxide!

Dihydrogen Monoxide (DHMO) is a colorless and odorless chemical compound, also referred to by some as Dihydrogen Oxide, Hydrogen Hydroxide, Hydronium Hydroxide, or simply Hydric acid. Its basis is the highly reactive hydroxyl radical, a species shown to mutate DNA, denature proteins, disrupt cell membranes, and chemically alter critical neurotransmitters. The atomic components of DHMO are found in a number of caustic, explosive and poisonous compounds such as Sulfuric Acid, Nitroglycerine and Ethyl Alcohol.

Facts About Dihydrogen Monoxide

It is the killer stuff that is involved in every death!

I thought death was caused by saliva, however, only when swallowed in small amounts over a long period of time.
