I was told a little while ago I don't have to go to work tomorrow. We are closed for Good Friday.

I figure that makes it GREAT Friday!

I will endeavor to preserver tomorrow. I plan to take apart the steering column on the El Camino. The top ball bearing of the shaft is worn out and needs to be replaced. The POS wore out after just 305,000 miles.

While I am in there I will replace the turn signal switch and the cruise control stalk.

It is a royal pain in the ass to take apart. It takes several special tools to take apart. I expect it to take most of the day to get it apart and back together.

If it is a tilt wheel it may not be the bearing but the three bolts that hold the unit together. I wish I had a dime for every one of those I have had to tighten up over the last twenty years

Yea, I tightened up the bolts that hold the steering column to the firewall about 10 years ago. Those are in there with red locktite.

I have a pile of new parts I will put back in. I have collected a new GM lock plate, cancel cam, turn signal switch & cruise control stalk as well as the bearing. Not the cheap aftermarket parts. All genuine GM. It is way too much work to do to use Chinese parts.

Once again I wish you lived next door.

That engine swap took me a lot of time because I am just a hobby mechanic. The man that built and installed my 200R4 in the Elky said the steering column fix is just a couple of hours work. I will feel great if I get it done in 8.

Before, when it was under a regular insurance policy by annual premium was about $1600. And I have a clean record, am married, and have 15-20 years on Max in age. I wouldn't be surprised if Max would have to pay close to 2 grand per year just for those two items, let alone for true operating costs like fuel/oil/tires/consumables/etc.

Just renewed the tag on the Rover last month, it was a whole $24.

Texas called, faxed, and mailed a letter to OK Dept of Public Safety saying I paid the fines within their time limit. That should take care of the suspended license.

Still waiting for the heads to get back from the machine shop on the GTS.

If Ok is like Va you will have to pay (through the nose) to have your license reinstated. In this neck of the woods DMV stands for Damn Money Vultures.....
I had mine suspended two years due to a clerical error and it cost me almost two hundred dollars. I still feel so violated in a dry fkuc kind of way

The reinstatement fee is $75, but I should not have to pay it. The letter texas is sending is supposed to rescind the suspension. If it doesn't, I am going to have to get all lawyer on their case to keep the suspension off my record to keep my insurance low.
